Old First Claim, Where Is That Va Info
i looked at the VA forms link and got a bit overwhelmed as to which one to get so i ask a question. i recently saw an old letter that VA wrote that i had filed a claim, my first, back in the 80's. that's all it said about that. i can't remember if I filed that claim myself, if i had a SO from an org or what. was a long time ago. the VA hospital i was at at that time did send me all their records they had but i didn't see but a few C&Ps from them about the same time the letter stated i had filed a claim. there was nothing of the VA stuff about that claim, any VA correspondence, etc. what form would i use to reequest all info relating to that claim? and …

In The Raters Hands
I spoke with the local Dav yesterday and she called down to the Dav Nso in Houston regarding the status of my claim. I was told that the latest update was on March 1 my claim file was in the rater's hands. I called the 800# and finally after a little "prodding" he told me that yes, the same rater signed for my file in Feb also. Also Vso last month told me my claims file went to a second rater on Jan 25. My Vso said give it 30 days or until end of Mar. Any thoughts on this? Thnx

It pays to mention them again. I did some volunteer work for my former vet rep years ago and the last claim I handled for him involved me using these regs. The veteran clearly had manifestations of his claimed SC condition in his inservice medical records but it had not been diagnosed by the mil.He had multiple treatments for VD inservice but as I recall I was able t…

The Court Case mentioned by Jon Brown at SVR radio today with Dr. Bash is summarized here as to when 'lay evidence' can have a probative value regarding a diagnosis. It is an important Federal Circuit court decision. Jandreau v. Nicholson, 2007-7029 A decision denying claimant service connection for residuals of a right-shoulder dislocation is remanded for further proceedings where: 1) although a claim that the destruction of records while in the government's custody should result in a relaxed evidentiary standard for veterans is rejected; nevertheless 2) the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims improperly held that lay evidence cannot be used to es…

Problems With My Fathers Sc Disability Payments

tinnitus Taking So Long......
Injured my back in the Marines. I could hardly walk when separated and was given 10% by the USMC. This was back in the dark ages, 1980, so there weren't a lot of resources back then. VA rated me at 20% about a year later. Currently at 20% for the lower back injury. 10% for tinnitus and 0% for hearing loss. I've got to look at that hearing loss. Just got new hearing aids and they made me realize just how bad my hearing actually is. Range of motion on my back is almost nothing. Almost no forward movement and very little side to side. Pain radiates down both legs. Left leg is noticeably smaller and weaker. Very hard to balance on left leg alone for any leng…
