This is where to post those questions. it's OK, if you are feeling confused this is not at all unusual it can be a very confusing system. Aid &Attentance for Ill Spouse of Vet on Medicaid
My father, Veteran, and mother have had A & A of $2120/ month for their joint assisted living. Dad has Alzheimer's and will be moving over to skilled nursing on Saturday. He is on hospice with Alzheimer's. We have to apply in April for Medicaid. Mom has essential tremor and stints in legs. She can't live on her own and will remain in assisted living. They reside in Indiana. I've been told by VA over a phone that mom will not receive ANY money. Then on another forum an assisting veteran tells me to send in a form 21-4138 and mom will receive the entire benefit of $2120. No directions on this form. Or will dad only get $90 and no income for mom? She only has $600 Soc. …

ptsd Increase
I posted on another forum as well, please help. Ok, I contacted the DAV at my local VA and he told me that my claim was up for normal review. I received my 100%sc rating in 2011 and I was scheduled to have my c and p this year. There is no date as of yet, however he did tell me I needed to be proactive, so I made him my POA to ensure I receive p and t. He told me that I should not have anything to worry about as long as I have been going to all appts, and taking medication as prescribed. My c and p is for depression/ anxiety/ ptsd and benign prostate hypertrophy both of which is still on going. I was rated 50% for depression and 40% for prostate along with a lot of 1…

I'm wondering how strong of a case I have
Hello everyone, So I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder about 2 years after I got out of the Army (left Army in November 2011, diagnosed in Jan 2014). While I was in the Army, after my second deployment, I'm very certain I entered a hypomanic state (I was having racing thoughts, pressured and rapid speech, grandiose thoughts, and a decreased need for sleep). I know now what hypomania feels like because it happens to me every so often and I have to have my medication dosage increased. The details are that basically after my second deployment my buddies and I came back from Iraq, and most of them were stop-lossed and ended up leaving 1-2 months after we returned.…

Establishing Service Connection for Veterans Affairs Disability Compensation:
Hi, I'm service connected for 10% for Bi-lateral Flatfeet, I'm working on my claim for the Chronic Lower and Cervical Spine pain, I have not had a lot of Dr appointments in the service in the 80's because I was in the Ranger Bn and it was really discouraged to go to sick call for injuries. With that being said I have other disability ratings that have 1 or 2 Dr entries about my problems, and now some 25 plus year being out I was not able to go to the Dr because of money or time off work I would get written up and bad Evaluations. I continue to have these issues, I'm seeing Dr's now as much as I can, my VA rep knows I'm in a bad spot, how do you overcome the lac…

when the law changes
i was denied for a back condition in 1985 because they said it was a defect,-----i know some of you already know my claim i have ask for help many times so i am sorry for needing more ,---------- ok, in 1985 the law was cut and dryed, if you were tagged with that you lost all rights to comp, and it was the law. but the law changed by way of 82-90,,,,82-90 changed the way a defect was detected, and made it possible for a person with that decision on there back could appeal, where as before you were not. now heres my question, when 82-90 took effect was the va required to say any thing to me , like the dro is supposed to suggest what may help your claim,,,,,,,,…

degenerative arthritis VA Disability Proposed Rate Reduction Response
I got a letter a week ago that the VA wants to reduce the rating I currently have for Degenerative Arthritis of the Spine from 20% to 10%. I have had the 20% rating for over 5 years. The disability is the result of an injury that occurred when I was in the military and is well documented. I have prepared a statement contesting the reduction, but I'd like someone to read through it to see if I could be messing anything up. This is my first post here, so I'm not sure if this is a valid request for these forums. Here is the statement I have so far. Any advice or information is appreciated. --------------------------------------------------------------------…

HMMV Accident did more than what I realized
Folks I wanted some opinions and critiques. I have been thinking about putting a new claim in however, have been reluctant to consider the loooooooooong whoo hah fight it would be. From folks that know me on here my tragic story is in the form of an ejection from a HMMV. That is how I had earned the nickname "Airborne" and was known by that in my old unit. Anyways, Tragic tale yes but live and learn. Lucky to be around to complain. If I knew then what I knew now it would be a different story and I would have approached the claim differently. But as my old bud use to say, If "ifs" and "and" were pots and pans the whole world would be a kitchen" Multi faceted claim…

Service Connect Question
My wife is a Vet that was injured while active in 2001, and is currently 40% Disabled with VA Service Connect ( SC ) for maybe 3 years now for Back Issues. She was just involded in a Vehicle accident that was not her fault. Injuries from the accident "nothing serious just moslty sore" are ; Head, Neck, Chest, Stomach, Hips, Knees, & Back. Can this recent Vehicle accident prevent her from filing a new VA SC claim ( for more of a % ) later down the road since her Per Existing back injury which occured while active is now re-injured due to this accident? I know all the other areas such as Head, Neck, Knees, etc.. that are not involved in VA SC would be claimed through co…
