Just recieved a copy of C & P MH Exam for PTSD
Hello all, I am new here so first off...Hi My c & P results state that based off of the exam and a review of my files that I do have PTSD Chronic and Depressive disorder, unspecified. It goes on to state that the effect of the PTSD, occupationally and socially has caused reduced reliability and productivity with flashbacks once to twice a week, constant anxiety, occasional panic attacks and exaggerated startle reflex. There is plenty more but I wanted to know if any of this verbiage was significant for determining a possible rating. I know anything is just a guess so no pressure and thanks. J.Bond

Vietnam Vet PTSD Claim
First off, let me say this site has been extremely helpful to me in developing my brother's VA claim. He's a former Marine - served in Vietnam 1969-70 and was WIA by tripping a grenade booby trap - Purple Heart. He was unemployed for approximately 4 years of the first 8 years he was back. Then in the 8th year, he attempted suicide, taken away in a straight jacket, hospitalized and diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Paranoid Type. In the 5 years that followed, he underwent long-term mental health therapy, was incarcerated for hitting a police officer with his truck (charged with intent to maim/kill), received a Felony conviction, put on Probation, and lost his license. Th…

Is the V.A. falsifying my test results??
I recently have asked to add a few things to be SC'd for. After I filed a new claim I was sent to do several xrays and mri's for Comp and Pen. The problem came when the results were given to me by my primary care doc. He was reading me the results and EVERY test was normal!?!? Now keep in mind that these tests are repeats of one that have been done in the past that showed problems that don;t go away on their own. Ankle Xray-done in the past and showed arhtritis. Ankle mri-done in the past showed serious damage to tendons and ligaments MRI Brain-done in the past showed a cluster of blood vessels that were damaged with prior bleeding. Xray of lower …

tdiu Small problem with comp and pen questions
I had a comp and pen today for adding a few things that are related to gulf war syndrome. CFS, Gerd, and a few others. During the exam the P.A. told me that it looks like I'm working. I asked why and he said because I'm wearing boots. I could see the screen and he wrote that it appears that I'm working because I am wearing work boots and I smell Iike wood stove smoke. We have a wood stove! It's cold in North Idaho!! I am on TDIU. This could be a bad thing. I don't work. We live on 7 acres and because it's spring our place is full of mud. I can't walk to the truck without walking in mud. I was dressed nice with a button up shirt but I was wearing boots. I ex…

PLEASE READ AND BEWARE
Hello to All, I had to post this! I had a routine VA (one year check-up) today and I did not know my VA doctor that was treating me for the last 3 years retired. I walked in with my Kane and the new doctor checked me over for my ailments and asked the routine questions. I kindly answered all questions and then she dropped the bomb, hammer or an unusual question. My VA doctor stated, "I see you have a Kane and you have back problems. Mr.****, you have nice shoes on today, are they basketball shoes. My answer, yes! she then stated, well sir, how can you wear basketball shoes if you cannot play due to your back and many ailments?" I kindly said, excuse me, smiled…

Strange C&P for Anxiety Disorder Appeal
This exam happened on 2/25/16 (last thursday). Already service connected at 50% for Anxiety Disorder. Brief facts: It was an appeal because I was denied increase in 2014 and remained at 50%. My VA treating physician has said I cannot work in her records and I am on SSDI since 2010. Got into my appointment and the first thing the Doc said was "So from what I gather from your records, you have a lifelong history of anxiety..." I responded "No...." He reads over the notes and says "It says here you enjoyed being alone, solitude, and things of that nature growing up"...I said "Yes, that's true...I am introverted by nature. But I also had friends, played sports, had jobs …

C&P exams and symptom diminishing medications
How can a vet win a rating while on medication for a condition that he is filing a claim for? If he files a claim for Diabetic Polyneuropathy secondary to DMII and his PC has him on maximum dosage of Gabapentin for neuropathic pain and his symptoms have deminished to the point he can get around without dibilitating pain and he is able to walk into the C&P Exam without a lot of trouble, then the examiner will deny the claim because in his opinion the symptoms don't meet the guidelines for a rating! So should the vet stop taking the pain meds until after the C&P exam?

C&P Opine Options
I was told that there are 5 options for raters to assign or opine on a C&P exam. Just curious if anyone has ever seen anything other than "at least as likely as not" or "not at least as likely as not"? My experience is that the Dr or PA choose one of these two. 5 Options: "is due to” (100% sure) “more likely than not” (> 50%) “at least as likely as not” (equal to or greater than 50%) “not at least as likely as not” (< 50%) “is not due to” (0%)
