IMO Independent Medical Opinion
Guidelines
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
- No Flaming (Negative comments about other members, other boards, or other sites.)
- No vulgar language
- No offensive verbal assaults
- No sexual connotations
- No personal attacks
- No political discussions we are not a political forum our focus is VA disability claims. Political discussions lead to flame wars, it takes up valuable space and is not what this board was set up for. There are many other boards to discuss politics, this is not one of them.
- No religious testimonials or discussions of one faith against another. There are other sites for this.
Please take a minute to read through this it will explain how to make posts that will get you answers.
Note: Your firsts posts on the board may be delayed before they show up, as they are reviewed, this process does not take long and the review requirement will be removed usually by the 6th post, though we reserve the right to keep anyone on moderator preview. This process allows us to remove spam and other junk posts before they hit the board. We want to keep the focus on VA Claims and this helps us do that.
I know you are anxious to jump into the forum, but these tips will help you get to it a lot faster.
Our Home Page has articles that may answer your question. Use the search box at the top of the page to find answers faster.
Do not give advice contrary to the law. Such as lying to VA or SSA or working under the table for cash in order to hide your employment status from government agencies. Such postings will be deleted, further posting will result in a ban from the forum.
1. Post a clear title like 'Need help preparing PTSD claim' or "VA med center won't schedule my surgery" instead of 'I have a question'.
Knowledgable people who don't have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn't clear in the title.
I don't read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on.
2. Use paragraphs instead of one huge, rambling introduction or story.
Again - You want to make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
Leading to:
3. Post clear questions and then give background info on them.
Example is:
A. I was previously denied for apnea - Should I refile a claim?
I was diagnosed with apnea in service and recived a CPAP machine but claim was denied in 2008. Should I refile?
B. I may have PTSD- how can I be sure?
I was involved in traumatic incident on base in 1974 and have had nightmares ever since, but I did not go to mental health while enlisted. How can I get help?
Do Not Argue With The Moderators. If a moderator tells you to stop doing something then stop, if you are unable to stop yourself, your account will be deleted. Moderators are in place to keep the forum running smoothly, what they say goes.

Everyone won't agree on many things, but the one thing we should agree on is that we are here so that no brother or sister veteran gets left behind, not on a jungle trail, not on a desert trail and not on a paper trail." Tbird
The biggest component of HadIt.com to help veterans is our very active discussion forum. Over 7500 (as of March 2011) registered users, with an average of about 200 posts per day. New Registrations average about 200 members per month.
Please note that the discussion forum is made up of veterans just like you, they come to HadIt.com and its discussion forum from all over the world. Some come to ask questions, some come to help do research for other vets, some to answer questions, others come for the sense of community that HadIt.com provides and still others come just to provide an ear and shoulder to those veterans who have become weary.
There are some folks who for whatever reason sign on to discussion forums to cause disruption. However, we still have this problem the best advice is ignore them; they want a fight, a response, don't give it to them. We have an ignore user feature, you can look up any member by name and click to ignore them.
New members posts are moderated and not visible to all members until the staff can review a few posts to make sure it is not a spammer, troll or some other divisive individual.
HadIt.com's discussion forum is "User Friendly" as long as posters do not cause division. We are not into censorship. We simply need to set forth some guidelines. These are aimed at maintaining harmony on the Web Forum.. When one person disrupts many then we feel it's time to take action.
Remember that most that come to our discussion forum have been wounded in one way or another. Be kind to each other, if angered take a day to respond. Personal attacks are not what we are about; we are about helping our brother and sister veterans.

IMO REFERRALS & REVIEWS
I want to start a thread for people to post names of IMO/IME's they have used. THIS IS FOR GOOD AND BAD DOCS. We want to know who to go to and who to avoid (Keep in mind if your symptoms and evidence does not support a DX or SC that does not mean they are a Bad doctor, it means you havent given them what they need to do what you want) Rules: (and Tbird/mods have final say) 1) Follow the template below, Copy and Paste 2) do not list out your whole story of your claims spanning back 20 years, keep it concise 3) If they were good or bad, list concise (ie quick and to the point) reasons why. hypertension Information On Independent Medical Opinion Imo Or Ime Nexus Letters
http://www.hadit.com/imo_nexus_letter_by_dr_bash.html Information On Independent Medical Opinion IMO or IME Nexus Letters Author: Craig Bash, MD The IMO is an independent medical opinion and IME is a independent medical examination used for a claim for a Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) disability compensation award which must be based on medical data. The IMO can be done without a hands on examination but the IME also uses the hands on process. The medical nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) letter can be either and IMO or IME. The VA appeals process a few years back (1996) by court order eliminated their physicians on the board of the BVA and simu…

A Word Of Caution
An IMO doctor needs all available medical records, and in most cases copies of C & P wxams, and in some cases the entire SMRs of the veteran. Althogh VA has been accused in the past of "doctor shopping" -we old timers called those attempts "fishing expeditions" in the veterans commmunity , and sometimes the VA still seems to do that- a veteran or widow of veteran should NEVER play that game. The attorney's at the BVA are smart and will pick up on anything that does not seem kosher. In this case it appears that either the widow gave the IMO doctor the wrong info or did not give the doctor the medical records that he/she needed.I saw one potential possibilit…

Advice
I had a c & p in Aug 2004 when I returned from Iraq. I was told that the ringing in my ears is tinnuitus and I complained of hearing loss. I didn't know that was a claim and then the VA denied all my claims in Nov 2004 falsely saying I failed to appear for the c & p. I was never given a hearing test. I thought that was it. After receiving advice I later re-opened my case om 2010. The VA granted me a hearing test which shows hearing loss. Now the VA is saying it is unable to tell when I loss my hearing. Do I have a case because the VA never assisted me in 2004 with this claim and falsely denied all my claim even though I have a copy of that c & p exam?…
