Agent Orange, Lung Cancer Clarification
My husband was diagnosed with Stage 1b lung cancer last week after resection of his left upper lobe. He spent one month in Vietnam sometime in the mid 1960's, but returned to the states early due to a family emergency. His DD 214 doesn't reflect the short amount of time he spent in Korea. Is my best course of action to request copies of his PCS orders to Vietnam from the NARA? From my research the only rating code I've found close to lung cancer is 6819 - neoplasms, malignant and 6820 - neoplasms, benign. According to CFR 38, veterans approved for benefits from the presumptive list of diseases for Agent Orange, receive benefits at the 100% rate for 6 months after …

Agent Orange On Okinawa 1962
Many of you have probably already read the article in the 5/17/12 Japan Times written by Jon Mitchell about recently uncovered documents that "..show the U.S. conducted top-secret tests of Agent Orange in Okinawa in 1962 according to a veterans services employee, Michelle Gatz, a veterans service officer in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. For those of you who were stationed on Okinawa as I was 1961-1963 and have acquired disease associated with Agent Orange, it's an article worth reading found at the link inserted below. I have never thought it was a coincidence I acquired both prostate cancer and hairy cell leukemia a the same time in 2005, the hairy cell leukemia…

Presumtive Soft Tissue Sarcoma
Okay, not sure if anyone has asked this or not...and I am pressed for time so apologies for not scanning the forum before posting this; but I need some input on this one in helping me help a Vietnam veteran fix what I believe to be is a huge SNAFU/FUBAR claim done by our (now deceased) county VSO, and the lackluster work of her replacement on this gentleman's claim. The vet I am helping had surgery and chemo to get rid of rectal cancer in 2004/2005, and he was denied service connection because it was never argued that it was a "soft tissue sarcoma." When I look up all the information on "soft tissue sarcoma" and google it with "rectal cancer," I get nothing but hits…

For New Member Parkinsons Ao Veteran
I am sure someone at hadit will see Tbird's request and will email you to help you post at hadit. Meantime I got this info together for you to go over as I assume you can read the posts I assume you did not receive a Nehmer letter but there is always the possibility your claim should have fallen under Nehmer if certain conditions are met. If you feel, after reading the Nehmer Training letter , as to Footnote one (pages 15, to 18, Appendix 18, and info here at hadit, (I was a Footnote One Nehmer Claimant -many here were I think) and you feel your situation puts you under Nehmer due to a past decision which coded and rated as NSC, something that subsequently be…

Nuerologist Sending Me To A Movement Specialist
My regular Nuerologist has decided that he has done all he can for my Parkinson's disease. It is not improving at all, but is getting worse. He is referring me to a Specialist within the Neurology field called a Movement Specialist. She is also a deep brain simulator doctor. Yes, they sprayed me real good. Papa

Finally, A Diagnosis ...
Husband had an appt with his private cardiologist for follow-up to an abnormal EKG (thank you Berta!) After testing, doc found numerous areas of calcified plaque, confirmation of a prior myocardial infarction (date unknown) although we have a normal EKG from May '04 and then an abnormal one from Sept. '04 that follow-up was done on but apparently not enough. Private cardiologist diagnosis: ASHD (I believe this is atheroscleriosis heart disease?) IHD, myocardial infarction, patient is taking 4 different medications for his heart disease (he has been for several years.) His mets are 10.1 (from a QTC exam in '09), left ventricular ejection fraction is 66% In ad…

Medical Records Have Arrived!
So when I got home from work yesterday there were 3 large packages waiting for me! At first I was confused because I didn't recall ordering anything.....then I seen the return address! Wow....lot of information there!! I made it through about 1/3 of the first package and wow! There are so many things I didn't even know my dad had gone through! Things he was diagnosed with that I had no idea...guess parents hide things like that from kids sometimes! Haven't found any EKG's yet, but did notice that he was on multiple cardiac meds. There is much more research to be done and I'm thankful that I am a nurse and have been in the medical field for years. These records are so j…

diabetes Agent Orange Kadena Afb Okinawa
I am looking for anyone who was on Kadena AFB, Okinawa or .Chanute AFB, IL. My dad was there from Oct. 68-April 70. He has ichemic heart disease, diabetes which has resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee and peripheral neuropathy. We were denied in 2002 AMVETS filed a claim on his behalf for heart condition, diabetes and back problems. I refiled in December 2011 and have just received the claim statements and medical release forms. I am familiar with filling out this paper work because my husband is a combat veteran of Iraqi Freedom. I have been reading articles from the Japan times and I am a member of the Agent Orange Okinawa facebook page. Another t…

Ao Ihd Question
Just curious if anyone made it through the claim process without going to one of "their" doctors? My claim is 5 months old and is now in Notification Phase. I did submit much medical supporting docs with the claim. My doc did the IHD questionaire. But, no doctor appt was assigned. Today the 800 number told me that although once in the Notification Phase mine will take a little longer than the usual 5 days because they have to look at everything again and make sure their work is correct. I had listed things on the claim that I THOUGHT was just part of the IHD... heart attack, bypass, continued chest pains, etc.... all that has to be re-reviewed. Just wondering why…

Ihd Being Cured?
I have been wondering about an article I read on a study that has/is being done on the heart. A group of 25 heart patients with scar tissue were the study participants. 17 were given a stem cell created heart cell by taken a good cell from the patient's heart putting them with with the patients stem cells and growing them in a Petra dish. They were then injected back into the damaged heart and all except one had a decrease in scar tissue and the heart muscle improved as much as 40%. The other 8 in the study got conventional treatments and did not improve. If this really works then we vets in the future that have suffered heart attack damage could be a lot better…
