After 50 years I received a 100% disability rating. At 73 years of age I was awarded it about a month ago.
After 50 years I received a 100% disability rating. At 73 years of age I was awarded it about a month ago. Prior to then I received a letter from the Treasury Department stating they didn't have my banking info available if I was awarded a pension. Turns out they did. I had to call the number given to verify it. The gentleman I talked to told me how it can take 6 to 8 years for an appeal. WOW! That was depressing. He said the Washington office alone had 4 or 5 staffers and handled 30,000 claims. I wrote to Senator John McCain telling him what I had learned. With no reply necessary. I turned on CSPAN 2 weeks later to see what was going on with our committee hearings and I …

Rating Knee Disability
My knee disability had been rated un diagnostic 5260 limitation of flexion which gave me a 20% disability rating. When I asked for an increase in disability, the C&P doctor stated my limitation of extension was 20 degrees which would give me a 30% disability rating. When I responded to the SSOC in June, I told the VA they failed to give me a reasonable explaination why DC 5261 did not apply as the law requires. In August I received a IRIS reply stating my claim was in administrative procedures so a correct decision could be made. On October 5 I was told my case was being prepared for a BVA hearing and I should received it before April. I sent 3 e-mails to the Direct…

What does "Compensation Issue" term mean??
Hi everyone, So my appeal was closed on July 15. I haven't received my letter yet but under the issues tab on va.gov, where it used to say the items i was appealing, it now says "compensation issue." Is that normally what it says just when they close the review? Has anyone seen any other terminology in that section? Thanks for your input.

How long does a higher level review/CUE take?
Updated as of 2020-08-27 (at the bottom of my original post) How long does a higher level review/CUE take? I initially called the 1-800 number and they said supplemental reviews are supposed to take less than 125 days, but they were not certain about higher level reviews. The agent speculated they could take a year or longer. This post was changed to track my claim as it made it's way through the VA system. This may help other veterans understand some of the inner workings of what goes on behind the scenes. Why am I calling this HLR/CUE and not just CUE or HLR? At the time the claims were submitted, other members have indicated filing their CUE claims as …

How Long Since Dro Hearing And Waiting For Decision?
How long since DRO hearing and waiting for decision? I have about 6 issues in my claim, in appeals. For me, 4 months almost exactly. (DRO hearing Dec. 8, 2010) (they sent me my SOC january 28, 2011, the SOC was for 3 issues). No decision for 3 issues. Those that are stil denied go onto BVA for decision. I had an poll type thread in which I asked how many on appeal, but that question was a little different, and that was in the research area of these forums.... How long for those of you that had a DRO hearing, and yet to get a decision? and how long have the wait been?

Bva With Remand To Amc
I am new and posted much of what I am copy/pasting in another forum. However, I did not get much of a reply on that forum and thought I would try here. I will try to be as clear as I can, feel free to ask questions. I will try to make this short and simple. I was discharged in 2003 for Supraventricular tachycardia. I found out after leaving the Army that they damaged my AV node and they took someone else's heart monitor and put my name on it (documented by VA cardiologist). The problem is that by putting my name on the other monitor and not my monitor, I received a 10% and not 30% rating in 2003. I have been fighting this for many years once a VA cardiologist po…
