Supplies
I'm new to Voc Rehab question. I'm approved, I just started my first semester. I need to order my supplies for my classes. I was told I'd be purchasing them and I'd get reimbursed. I sent my Counselor an email Friday asking how to go about this, sent a followup yesterday, and tried calling today. I'm ok with buying them and putting the paperwork in. I just have no idea how. Should I order my materials, or do I need pre-approval?

VR&E Education entitlement under 2 programs
Just finished a BA with 100% VA funding via CH 31. Now I want to go on and get a MA. Spouse is 100% P&T Veteran, and I am eligible for CH35 benefits. Was looking into this, and found that the CFR and USC do not agree on the entitlement. USC : §3695. Limitation on period of assistance under two or more programs (a) The aggregate period for which any person may receive assistance under two or more of the provisions of law listed below may not exceed 48 months (or the part-time equivalent thereof): (1) Parts VII or VIII, Veterans Regulation numbered 1(a), as amended. (2) Title II of the Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1952.…

SEI (Special Employment Incentive)
I have been working with voc rehab in Portland OR for several years and just got assigned a new counselor. I want to ask them about SEI where the VA pays the employer 50% of the wage for six months - it is right in the VA handbook handed out at the VA hospital on p. 19, I am attaching a scan. Does anyone have experience with it or know about it? The office seems to only want to send vets to school at a community college, there is no real job search or employment connection. I took two courses at their insistence and got A's in each, but I have 20 years experience in my field and my current counselor understands that additional training is not going to help me at the a…

Vocational Rehab Horror Stories
Hello Everyone, After being approved for Voc Rehab and driving 35 miles back and forth to the VR&E office, I was recently sent a letter denying me for these benefits. Overall, it was a TERRIBLE experience. I felt like she was patronizing me each time i walked into her office. Despite taking the tests, giving her my transcripts and everything going smoothly(i thought), it seemed like each time I met with her their were new reasons to string me along not give me an IWRP. One time it was the testing, the next time it was that she wasnt prepared. I almost felt as if the counselor Allison, Didn't want me to be a part of the program(despite being approved and being ent…

First appointment with Voc Rehab today - Wish Me Luck
I go to voc rehab today to see if they can help me with ergonomic set up for my computer set up. I'm on here at least 8 to 10 hours a day and it's really taking it's toll on my body. I am trying to get accepted into the indepenting living program and hopefully they can perhaps help with some mobility assistance also. I'll keep you posted, I'm sure today is going to be miserable for me, it's tough to get out of the house and sitting through a film about something that i won't qualify for is frustrating.

IWRP to ILP help please
I am currently 100 % tdiu p&t smc-s. I was attending class last winter term but because of taking prescription Pregabalin for nerve pains it caused me to fail in school due to side effects. Doctors still don’t know what my nerve problem is from and haven’t found right treatment to ease pain along with muscle twitches. I ask my voc counselor to be in ILP. He first lied and said I was to severe for voc rehab including ILP. I referenced 38 cfr 21.60 and he changed tone and said it will be a long process. 3 weeks later he said he was hesitant to put me on ILP. He said I needed my primary care to fill out questionnaire. He also said I am eligible for ILP becaus…

VA education
As a 100% disabled veteran not yet at retirement age can I request college courses for a degree? I am 100% P&T and receive SMC for UI, which I would lose if I became employed but with a degree I could find employment that would more than make up for losing SMC and SS. I now have two grandchildren to support and money is getting tight enough that I would go back to work if I could find a job where they would work with me. I would have to probably be checked out to see if I could make it through school. Any advice?

Approved for Voc Rehab- 14 months?
Hello, I was approved for Voc Rehab with the conditions of Serious Employment Handicap. They granted me 14 months and was wondering if it's possible to get more? I've gone to school previously and used up my GI Bill and went to an unaccredited school. None of my credits will transfer and won't be able to get a Degree within 14 months, maybe a certification. Anyone use the 14 months to learn something new like being a VSO or Rehab Counselor?

Voc Rehab Benefits for STEM Grad Program
Good afternoon, I recently received my disability rating of 40% and am currently finishing up my BS in Mechanical Engineering from UCSD. I have about a year left, with a projected GPA of 3.7 and I plan on pursuing a master's degree in MechE as well, possibly at another institution. That said, these are my questions: 1) If I get accepted for Voc-Rehab, I would like to extend these benefits to cover my master's degree, but how would I sell this to my counselor? For my field of study in particular, entering the workforce with an undergrad is all I really need, and this is a pretty well known fact. Entering the workforce with a Master's would certainly be more ben…

Voc Rehab OJT Program (Apprenticeship)
I recently moved away from my family in San Antonio, TX to accept Department of Army Intern Program and applied for Voc Rehab OJT Program. On 1/15/2019 I was denied because "Veteran is already in an Intern OJT Program (I think VRC meant to say intern program) and the VA rules do not allow us to create a VR&E OJT." I asked for a reference in an email and the reference was M28R, Part V, Section B, Ch. 2.08(a) - Validation of Facility Code: The VRC must ensure that a facility has been assigned a valid facility code prior to developing a plan of services with a Veteran. If the facility is already assigned a facility code, the VRC must determine if the progra…
