  1. Did that totally social and occupational impairment get you 100% for MDD? Here's my MDD stuff: I have letters signed by both of my mental health providers that say my "depression symptoms totally impair my ability to function on all levels. He presents as unemployable in any setting and his symptom severity has grossly affected his ability to function in social settings. He demonstrates clinically significant distress, reporting high levels of depression, even at home, causing impairment in his ability to perform activities of daily living."Then my CP exams said: "Total occupational and social impairment"Near-continuous panic or depression affecting the ability to function independently, appropriately and effectivelychronic sleep impairmentDifficulty in adapting to stressful circumstances, including work or work like settinginability to establish/maintain effective relationshipsSuicidal ideationNeglect of personal appearance and hygiene intermittent inability to perform activities of daily living, including maintenance of minimal personal hygiene. mild memory loss, such as forgetting names, directions, eventsimpairment of short and long term memory
  2. I just talked to my VSO Rep yesterday and she said my claim was done, but requiring a 2nd signature. I heard that this could be due to the amount of money or backpay from the case. Anyone have any info??She also asked if I knew my claim was in Washington (not my RO in Milwaukee) I thought that was kind of weird. I'm currently 60% SC (40% back, 30% Major Depression) and filed for increase in Major Depression and IU. My doctors letters, medical records and C&P exam results are consistent with 100%. I am praying that I will finally get the % I deserve. The struggle has lasted long enough.
  3. Why would they do that? My CP examiner said I could handle my finances in the exam report and both of my providers would for sure object to that.
  4. What do you mean by consider Housebound? What difference will that make?
  5. Thanks John. Good to know about the P&T and "no future exams". I am 27 years old. Medical discharge in 2009 and then I received my VA ratings (30% for MDD, 40% for my back) in 2011. But since then, I've been hospitalized in inpatient psych, tons of medications and med changes, 100+ mental health appointments and my life has basically hit rock bottom. From the little I've read about P&T, it seems like that's difficult to get with a mental health condition but I'm not really sure. We'll have to see what happens. I really hope it is soon because I am in desperate need of help and financial assistance.
  6. The examiner did say in the report that I could manage my own funds. Both of my providers would agree with that too. Thanks for your input guys
  7. Currently rated 60% SC (40% my back, 30% Major Depressive Disorder) rated in 2011. I just filed for increase for Major Depressive Disorder and Individual Unemployability. Currently in "preparation for decision phase". Here's the main points from my C&P exam. Examiner opinion at the bottom. What rating/IU eligibility does this sound like to you? Any input is appreciated. DIAGNOSIS: Major Depressive Disorder, recurrent and severe; with moderate anxious distress Which of the following best summarizes the veteran’s level of occupational and social impairment with regards to all mental diagnoses? · TOTAL OCCUPATIONAL AND SOCIAL IMPAIRMENT Veteran provided letter written by his therapist and psychiatrist detailing the severity of his depressive symptoms, impact on daily life, and their shared opinion that the veteran is unemployable. It’s our opinion that the severity of his Major Depressive Disorder symptoms have totally impaired his ability to function in all spheres. At this time, he presents as unemployable in any setting and his symptom severity has grossly affected his ability to function in social settings. He demonstrates clinically significant distress, reporting high levels of depression, even at home, causing impairment in his ability to perform activities of daily living.” SYMPTOMS: · Depressed mood · Anxiety · Near-continuous panic or depression affecting the ability to function independetlay, appropriately and effectively · Difficulty in adapting to stressful circumstances, including work or work like setting · Suicidal ideation · Inability to establish/maintain effective relationships · Neglect of personal appearance and hygiene · Chronic sleep impairment · Intermittent inability to perform activities of daily living, including maintenance of minimul personal hygiene · Mild memory loss, such as forgetting names, directions, events · Impairment of short and long term memory · Flattened affect · Disturbances of motivation and mood In my opinion, Mr *****’s severe depressive symptoms interfere profoundly with his occupational and social functioning. My assessment today is fully consistent with what is well-described in his VA treatment records and I concur with his current providers that his “symptoms have totally impaired his ability to function in all spheres.”

  9. This is some great info, USMC VET. Thank you for laying out the standard vs FDC. I'm going to look into getting one of those DBQ's done by my Psychiatrist and I'm going to read through that link you sent about the evidence. Thats what most of my questions have to do with
  10. I filed my intent claim for an increase for mental health a few weeks ago and I'm trying to do an FDC. All of my records are with the VA. Will the regional office request those records or do I supply them? Is paper or digitial preferred? Is it possible to only send the relevant mental health progress notes? Can I summarize the doctors notes or provide an index of all relevant mental health appointments? Anything I can do to make it easier for the claim specialist? I'm currently 60% SC (40% for my back and 30% mental health) and wanting to apply for IU. Can I file for IU expecting an increase to my 30% for Major Depressive Disorder, which would bump me to the minimum % requirements? I have a letter signed by both of my mental health providers to submit with claim stating that my symptoms "totally impair my ability to function in all spheres and I present as unemployable in any setting and symptom severity has grossly affected ability to function in social settings." So I'm assuming my SC will jump from 30% to at least 70%, in effect qualifying my for IU. I'm just not sure if I can submit that IU application along with my claim for an increase if I'm technically just shy of the 70% combined rating or 60% with a single disability or do I have to wait for a decision on my claim for increase? Thanks in advance
