  1. I found listening to this soft Saxophone music website calms my PTSD flare-ups....

  2. I was in an electrical explosion in 1988 which resulted a 3 week hospital stay a 1 month convelesent leave, causing mild memory loss. I eventually retired from the military in 2010 but had headaches throughout my entire career documented in my Medical service Records. I saw the Medical personnel when checking out for Discharge and documentation was annotated on my injuries of headaches, 3x knee surgeries, 1 & 2nd burns I was rated 30% disabled. I started continuous if claim for headaches. Was eventually diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus by V.A. and increased to 70% with memory loss. I had to resign from my job. In 2017 applied for SSDI and was approved 1st time 100% at 57 years old. Reapplied for increase for V.A. 100% disability and was approved due to Traumatic Brain injury with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus w/shunt and memory loss. It to 8 years, but it took lots of doctors visits and patience.
  3. I was rated 100% for PTSD/TBI and filed for SSDI and was approved 1st time You can go online www.ssi.gov and file for benefits.
  4. Fill out the dbq's and submit to www.va.gov.
  5. Hey buddy  I haven't been on this site for awhile due to my disabilities.  My TBI and PTSD a has gotten the best of me this last year.  I couldn't remember my log-in name or password.  Finally came across some old print out papers i had with passwords.  Since being on herlast i have suffered from severe memory loss.  I believe I'm on the  verge of probably heading towards dementia or alzheimers disease. ill be 59 years old this March and to young to be going through this.  I seen on this site you have assisted alot of veterans with questions.  Bless you.  I wish I could do the same,  but don't want to give them the wrong information.  You know i did all my claim on my own,  how, god knows,  but this website was a tremendous help. My disabilities are, TBI/PTSD-100%, Depression-109%, left knee-10%, right  knee - 10 %, Gerd-20%, .

Sorry to hear that.  Stay in touch and file under social chat if you want.  There is really no giving bad info there.

  6. This post is from a veteran on Facebook looking for assistance. I mentioned to them to look at this website www.hadit.com as it has helped me with my claims process. Hopefully she will get the same much information from here as I did and be successful having her claims approved. Here is what was answered to this person from other responders.QUESTION: A Friend of mine is presently taking care of her sister....let's call her Susan. Susan served 22 years active duty and was honorably discharged after having complications focusing on her job. Years later after being out the military the VA diagnosed her with Frontotemporal Dementia. The VA also says it's not service connected. Susan is getting more child-like in her mannerism. And she is totally dependent on her sister. Susan was once an active thriving loveable Sergeant in the Army. Susan has kids and still owns a house and a vehicle but cannot live by herself nor drive. Her sister wants to know how she can prove that this diagnosis is indeed service connected if she never went to sick call for it.I am so sorry to hear that. Sadly, there isn't much VA can do without something being on the records. You have to prove the service-connection. Hide or report this · Like · Reply · 4h · Edited Kobie Babatu She has to establish a chronology of symptoms and medical documentation dating back to active duty, or immeadiately after separation... Where she saw drs about her medical condition... If this can be shown then VETERANS BOARD OF APPEALS OR VETERANS COURT OF APPEALS WILL PROBABLY RULE IN HER FAVOR THAT HER CONDITION IS MORE LIKELY THAN NOT CAUSED BY HER MILITARY SERVICE, OR AT THE LEAST IT IS SECONDARY CONDITION MADE WORSE OR CAUSED BY HER MILITARY SERVICE... You may need to hire a lawyer to help gather and properly present the medical evidence to The VA...She needs to file a claim through www.ebenifits.va.gov first. Then after they contact her she will see a neurologist to confirm disability. Once confirmed rayer will give her rating. Once rated she needs to file for SSDI www.ssi.gov. Attend Dr. Evaluation appointment. I have memory loss/TBI service Connected. Takes from start to finish one year. Application for SSDI my wife did as it's very lengthy and difficult to fill out. I wish you the best of luck. 3 Edit or delete this · Like · Reply · 4h George Dixon https://www.va.gov/disability/how-to-file-claim/ Edit or delete this va.gov How to File a VA Disability Claim How to File a VA Disability Claim · Like · Reply · Remove Preview · 1h George Dixon https://www.va.gov/pension/eligibility/ Edit or delete this va.gov Veterans Pension Eligibility Veterans Pension EligibilityHere is a REALLY GOOD website to learn all about claims a processes for VA Disabilities. 9. Hello onrope, When I was getting ready to retire from USN, I claimed headaches also on my DBQ and it took (2 1/2years) of going to the VA Hospital to finally get a diagnosis of my "Headache Cliam"m (1) I first spoke to a speech therapist, (2) Had to talk to a shrink, (3) Talked to a VA Medical Doctor, then final was given an MRI which showed I had "Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus", due to being in an electrical explosion in 1988, 22 years before I retired. I had complained about headaches and no-one, would put 2 and 2 together until after I retired. I was finally operated on to have a shunt installed in my brain to relieve all the fluid build-up caused from that explosion. Keep searching in your medical records and see if anything could have caused you to have these heaches and attach all your medical evidence for a claim I did all this on my own and eventually rated 80%. I hope you don't give up, just keep looking for that needle in the hay stack, you'll find it, if it's there.

  18. Well, here it is Valentines day and I just got home from work. My wife and three daughters had made plans to go out this evening to dinner and see a movie. I told them I just have no desires to go out in public and being around a bunch of people. It's seems everything is so familiar with what 82 airborne is going through, I have the same thoughts and feeling's of depression and wanting isolation, I just want to be by myself, no crowds, no hostility, loud noses, etc. Having PTSD and depression sucks. Then having Normal Pressure hydrocephalus (due to all the loud booms from 5"/52 caliber cannon) that I was assigned to during General Quarters, and being electrocuted by 440 volts of electricity while active duty, is now really catching up with me. I had to have a shunt put into my skull to drain the excess cerebral fluid from my skull into my abdomen, so I don't have either a stroke or a Aneurysm, I have no desires for any outside public surrounding, just being in my own home, I feel safe and enjoy my isolation. My daughters and my wife see the depression I am going through and they try to get me to go out with them as a family, but I just have no motivation to be around people. I get very agitated very quickly, as before I joined the Navy, I was a happy go lucky person, had lots of friends, enjoyed going to clubs, the beach etc. I was seeing the V A psychiatrist doc when I first started my disability claim and was very reluctant to show my real feelings, and still hold alot of my feelings inside, can't seem to open up, which I believe is causing my depression. Hopely one day I can just let it all out.
  19. 63SIERRA, I have to echo what jfarr22384 said, only you have more interests in your claim going the way you want it to. I did everything on my own, just ensured everything I claimed was honest, was documented from in-service medical reports and after retirement VA notes, physician exams, etc. After you file your claim, and have to go to a C&P exam, be there at least 2 hours before your scheduled appointment, If you first get lowballed on a rating, file a NOD and pursue with aggressiveness and you will PREVAIL.
  20. Will say a special prayer for you, hope all goes well.
