  1. Rootbeer22, it's because of this site my claim went so well. I started this process 18mths before I retired, processed a pre-discharge packet. With the information I researched knew I needed all my medical records in one place, and they needed to be complete. From everything I read about the VA low balling, knew I needed to make it right the first time. Lessons learned from reading what needed to be done helped tremendously. This site ....can't say enough on how it helped me. It didn't hurt that I had my original physical when I enlisted back in 1982, showing I was perfect at 17 yrs old. Having my entire 33 yr career medical record was the true key. Thanks again
  2. Thank you so much HADIT, couldn't have done it without you. I separated from the Army 1 December 2015, with over 30 yrs active service, submitted a pre-discharge claim on 1 June 2015. With the knowledge gained from this site, enabled me to ensure all medical documents where accounted for, all my ducks in a row. Today I checked benefits...........claim complete.....100% now waiting for the official notice. Thank you for all the assistance and support. Chief
  3. LOD's are done for POV accidents, anything related to alcohol and mental conditions (formals) IAW regulations. Line of Duty's should be completed if the injury or condition will have lasting effects (informal). While on active duty most Soldier's do not have LODs completed because the idea is all injuries and conditions are incurred while on acitive duty. So most units will not do them, the SMRs are the evidence needed to support that the injury was incurred while in service. The exception is for those on Active Guard/Reserve programs, they should have them done if the condition will have an lasting effect, but most do not have them completed. Same rule applies with the Active service, units believe AGR Soldiers do not require them. This is my field, as I am a Human Resources Chief (CW4).
  4. Here is the short answer: You recieved an LES for the period in question for the injury, you can use that and a copy of your units training schedule for the IDT period or AT for the Annual Training period. Also your retirement point record is also good, although the training schedule is the best evidence of the training being conducted to support your claim. Officer Candidate School also have monthly training schedules, so if you contact the school, they will have records of you being a candidate. Per the regulation they must keep records for two years on file at the battalion. If not ATRRS will show enrollment and status in the system, it doesn't go away, a print out will show you were a candidate in the program. Hope this helps
  5. After months on this site, and finding the Pre-discharge person to help with my claim. As of 11 June the VA has it, it posted on ebenefits, status is being reviewed. From what I can tell they have most of all my claims but one, I know it's in the medical records. Just don't see it on the list.......so now it's the waiting game...C&P exams.....My retirement date is 1 December 2015, with PTDY and terminal leave.(thirty five more working days left.) Thank you so much for this site, it really helped me to gather everything needed to ensure ALL bases are covered. (LOL, That maybe wishful thinking with the VA) I went back and had my command do Line of duty determinations just in case. Found my orginal physical into the Army in 1982 to prove I was in perfect health at 17, now at 50 broken. Will keep you posted on progress or lack thereof. Big Chief
  6. Dre13, You will have to notify your AF reserve unit you are recieving VA disability pay. The rule is you are paid one or the other not both, please check with your personnel section. Congrats!
  7. T-Bird, just sent donation. I appreciate the site. Cheers Miche'
  8. If you were hurt during IDT weekend or Annual training, then you should have an approved LOD for the injury. This will establish you were hurt during military training, the LOD will have the DA 1379 (attendance record) and DA 2173 signed by the doctor and company commander, along with treatment records and/or witness statments. If you failed to report the injury, then you will have issues proving you were hurt during training. I hope this helps.
  9. Congrats it give me hope
  10. Well, just found out yesterday from spine x-ray I have anterior wedging of the T11 with small associated anterior osteophytes - that explains my continued low back pain. Off to see more doctors on this one, I spend 2 plus years see the chiropractor and physical therapy for the same issue five years ago. Adds another complain on the list. Not looking forward to the battle with the VA on these claims.
  11. Thank You Gastone, I have my entire medical record from 1985-1997 and the MTF has 1997 forward. I plan on submitting the claims 180 out for my retirement date, which is June. Still trying to track down the out processing physical changes (has to be done at the VA). Also, I keep hearing California is the worse as far as processing time goes. That piece has me abit worried, as I don't plan on staying in CA once I retire. Ms Miche'
  12. I am retiring this year with over 30 years of service, just read about the pre-discharge program. From the research I've done so far, there are a number of things I can claim for with the VA: 1-hysterectomy 30% 2-hypothyroid (seeing endocronologist)- continous medication for control 10% 3-flat foot aquired left foot 10% 4-tarsal tunnel syndrome right foot - had surgery on the left foot with fascia release - Still having issues 10% 5-heel spurs bilateral - 10% 6- plantar fascitis bilateral 10% 6a-sciatic nerve - most likely caused from my f'd up feet 6-hernia hiatal (small sliding hiatal hernia) <--diagnoses in my twenties - 10% 7-cronic migraine HA (seeing neurolgist) 2-3 monthly <--dating back to my twenties 30% 8-Tinnitus 10% 9-MRI shows 11mm cyst on my pituitary - 0%- will need MRI yearly to see if it grows (Neoplasm, benign code 7915) I have 95% of all my medical documents from MFTs and civilian doctors - should I have the specilists complete the DBQ forms prior to getting out and submit with my packet? Is there a particular format the VA wants all the documents in? There were times I didn't seek treatment and chose to "suck it up" so the mission would get done - I will have buddy statements for the space between seeking treatment. Most/all of the above there is a approved & completed LOD for. My feet are freaking messed up, and orthotics really don't work. Can anyone give me some advise on the best way to put this packet together and insight into the pre-discharge program? Also heard if you are filling a disability claim your out processing physical is at the VA - is this true? Please help, need all the help I can get, with the time I have spent beating the crap out of my body for the past 30 years here and overseas I think the VA should pay for all my broken parts. Thank you inadvance for assistance. Ms Miche'
