  1. already %50 for asthma / sleep apnea after fire / explosions on submarine. while having sleep study doc asked me about PTSD , I said never tested. Set up appointment with VA psychiatrist. He said anxiety disorder and PTSD I have captains report on fire / explosion putting me at the event. I also received an Navy Expeditionary Medal for this run. If I file a claim for compensation will I still have to do a C&P ?? Im sure I will to get a rating number. Do I have to get psychiatrist report or can they access it?
  2. Rated at %50 disabled, breathing issues from fires/ COPD -sleep apnea ( I was having events 36 times an hour while trying to sleep) 55 yrs old and have had to fight to keep my driver's license. Lost it once and had to fight to get it back. ( feel asleep at the wheel due to sleep apnea ) Now every year I have to go to doctor to have him sign paper work to keep it. Im afraid one of these time Im going to lose it for good. I live out on a farm, 40 minute to drive to get to work. if i lose it again i will lose my job. Is there anything the VA can do to help ? can i get my rating raised because if i cant drive im pretty much unemployable.
  3. I'm %30 percent for asthma and have just been diagnosed for sleep apnea ( off the scale) from a civilian doctor,( cpap machine etc ) it took 2 years to nail sleep apnea down because they misread my first test from 2 years ago...that's another story I m worried if I put in for sleep apnea will they want to reevaluate my asthma? I will turn 55 in a month, should I wait to file? what would the combined be, %50 because apnea is rated higher or %65 for both combined?
  4. well I hit the %30 percent mark, missed %60 by one point! A simple change in one prescription will take care of that, just happy it made it this far !
  5. well this went pretty fast, va sent me to see a couple doctors and did some testing, fev1/fvc of 56% , daily use of drugs etc ebenifits has me waiting on "Preparation for Notification" for a couple days now. no idea how this will turn out....
  6. well I finished filing my claim, I had my doctor fill out the questionnaire got my prescription records that showed my drug uses since 2012 ( pretty much daily use of steroids , rescue inhalers and albuterol ) got copies of er room visits guess I just wait for my denial and file against it .
  7. I just came across a copy of my separation physical when I was honorably discharged in 1986. It states on the last page " on set of asthma " and " qualified for separation only ". I got a normal honorable discharge. since then I have had a long battle with asthma, , lots of meds. I was wondering if they should have given me a medical discharge and should I file a VA claim ?
