  1. I have a 30% rating for depressive neurosis. I've been taking anti-depressants for years. I see a VA counselor several times a year. The other 10% is for the PC. I expect my temp 100% to be reduced. Not sure how it will be rated or whether or not the COPD will have any effect on the rating. The PH was for rpg shrapnel wounds and not real serious. The corpsman picked out some pieces, bandaged me up and I was on my way. All things considered I have been blessed to survive these things. Not bitter or worried about things I can't control.
  2. I was with E/2/7 late 69-70. Que Son Valley. Purple heart. Prior to the lung cancer diagnosis I was combined 40%. Not sure if they consider the LC is a result of the PC. Also had colon cancer in '98 which is not orange presumptive. I received temp 100% for the PC which was reduced to 10% when my PSA dropped to .05. Receiving SMC(K) as well. I retired in May of this year as a result of the LC diagnosis. I had planned to go in July anyway but the cancer kind of sped things up. I'm due for more scans next month. I have no idea when I may receive the rating letter. eBenefits says between 1/31/17 and sometime in March I believe. All documents are submitted and the VA rep has made a recommendation.
  3. All of my medical treatment has been at Kaiser as that was my insurance thru the USPS. I continued that coverage after my retirement in May of this year in order to maintain health benefits for my kids. I had a pulmonary test in March after lung cancer (non-small cell squamous) diagnosis. Basically the pulmonary tests were about the same. The lung cancer was already rated as SC for Agent Orange. I'm expecting a reduction from 100% since latest scans indicate "cured". BTW, I was not a candidate for surgery and had radiation treatment. I am hopeful that since the development letter is pending/done I will receive word in the near future. Will post results. Thanks for the input.
  4. I have no information relative to that question. It appears from eBenefits that a decision has been made and I'm awaiting an official letter. Will post results.
  5. In March of this year I was diagnosed with lung cancer and received a rating of 100% agent orange presumptive. I underwent radiation treatments and the latest CT/PET scans show no evidence of active cancer. VA is currently in the process of reevaluating my rating. I had a pulmonary function test and didn't do too well. They diagnosed severe COPD. FEV1 30-49%. I quit smoking 3 years ago. What are the chances I will receive a permanent rating for this? And will there be a residual rating on the lung cancer? My rating for prostate cancer went from 100% down to 10% after successful treatment. Thanks for the input.
  6. I apologize for not updating my situation sooner. I received my official rating letter from the VA on May 9th. They awarded me 100%. In the area "What We Decided" it states in part............. "Since there is a likelihood of improvement, the assigned evaluation is not considered permanent and is subject to a future review examination". I have no idea about how long the 100% rating will last or when I might expect a future review examination. I will be sure to update this post as more information is made available to me. Thanks to all of you for your input.
  7. Looking over the letters section it would appear that I am not P&T. So I'm guessing my notification letter will have some type of instructions for C&P at a later date. I will update the this thread once I receive my official letter.
  8. This is the latest information I found, Have not received a VA letter yet. What is the development letter? Still hopeful the 100% rating will be P&T.
  9. My diagnosis was dated 3/1/16. DAV submitted claim around the 23rd of March. Not sure how VA came up with the 3/15 date. Unofficial notification from DAV was dated 4/21 so I expect the official VA letter to arrive shortly. AO and Vietnam yes. All of my health care has been thru Kaiser and it has been excellent. I've managed to survive colon and prostate cancer so far due in no small part to the care and treatment received. Will post VA claim info when I receive it. Thanks for your input.
  10. Duh! Guess I should have figured that out. OK I'll wait for the official word from VA and see if the Article 35 comes. Thanks for the info and well wishes.
  11. Thank you both for the reply. What's "P&T"? I haven't seen the actual notification from the VA. Only the "early word" from DAV. They said effective date is 3/15/16. I actually also had prostate cancer and was receiving 100 for a couple of years. Upon follow-up it was reduced to 10. I also had colon cancer but no comp for that. My cancer is stage 1B and I'm almost done with radiation treatment. No evidence it has spread at this time, but oncologist says there's a 25% chance so we will see. Again, thanks for the info.
  12. I just received a rating of 100% for lung cancer. I am going thru radiation treatment now and will complete it this Friday. I am retiring from my job with the Postal Service at the end of May. I am 64 years old. Should I notify the VA of my retirement and will my retirement effect how long I will receive 100%? Thanks. Joe
