  1. Hi. 2 weeks ago I noticed on va.gov that my appeal says granted but I know that really means little and I am potentially a long way from the finish line. I researched the forum and know what to expect now but could not find an answer to these questions: 1. My appeal was for an increase in rating from 0% to 50% for one issue. My SC date already showed the correct date back to the beginning of my claim although at 0%. The only thing my appeal asked for was the rating increase on 1 item. Usually, after BVA I know it goes back to the RO to figure out a rating but since my appeal was for a rating do I go back to the RO as well, or is there a different box for the kind of decision? 2. Also, I was granted to be advanced on the docket for homelessness. Does that only apply to the BVA ruling or will that follow me through the rest of the process and somehow expedite that as well? Thanks
  2. How far along in the process are you?. I have seen some timeframes of 2 or 3 weeks. I dont plan on that happening for me but I can always hope!!
  3. Great, thanks. That's exactly what I wanted to. Point out the obvious error made in awarding the rating. I'm going to submit it today.
  4. As mentioned earlier I was granted sc at 0% but this directly contradicts the VA rating schedule and other VA decisions for my injury. I am going to appeal for a higher rating and dont need to submit new evidence but am wondering if I can point out the error. I want to include a page detailing out why the dro decision is wrong. I know I am supposed to get an informal call from the HLR where I could state this but I would like it in writing. Do you think this would mess up my appeal?
  5. So my original legacy claim was denied and I did a nod for a dro review. The dro granted 1 condition at 0% and denied the other two. If i just want to appeal the rating on the one granted at 0% which would be the best route to take. I dont need to add additional evidence as i feel what is in there should be good but I can if you think it will be better. According to va.gov both a supplemental and higher level review both take 4-5 months. I was originally legacy so would this now become ramp? Not sure what to do next. Thanks
  6. Submitted my claim in Oct 2016. Received Denial April 2017 - after being looked at for 4 days. Filed a DRO appeal in June 2017. Spoke with Dr. Bash for the first time a few days ago and he said to write a letter to the VA saying that I have new evidence to add to my file. How do I go about doing that? Is there a certain form I need?
  7. Is there a place that the Army stores prescription records? I finally got my medical records but there is no record of any prescriptions dispensed at the the military hospital and I don't know if they don't store these or if they are just lost to the years. Anyone know?
  8. Sorry for the delay but I had trouble remembering my password. Thank you for the replies. Ok So I have started the intent to file and have requested the medical file. I have created a file with my lay statement and DD-214 so far but that's it. If I have never been a VA facility will I have a C-file? Is there another way to get the files? I remember a family friend going to St. louis to personally get his files when he was doing his retirement from the National Guard. So you think its possible the hospital at Ft Benning will have my treatment records? That would be great as I assume they would come much faster. I will try to call the VA again and see if I can get someone willing to help. Thanks again.
  9. I was honorably discharged about 15 years ago and have an injury that occurred in service for which I take medication. The injury itself is not horribly severe but I do require occasional doctor visits and medication. I was unaware the VA would assist in the treatment cost as no one ever told me and I never asked. After reading the forum for the last year or so I decided to pursue a claim so I can stop paying for the medication out of pocket. I initiated a fully developed claim at the e-benefits site about two months ago and have all of my private treatment records. I requested my medical records from the National Archives and was surprised when they arrived in about 4 weeks but unfortunately they were only my entrance records and not my actual medical records. I found out that the records for my period of discharge were somewhere else and I had to fax a form to a location in Georgia requesting the records, which I did a month ago. I followed up with a not very nice lady at the VARMC who informed me that they are working on December and it will be about a year before I have my records. My question is- from my understanding the intent to file is good for a year but it appears by the time I actually have the records it will be past one year. My injury occurred while in service and is documented in my hospital records so assuming the records are intact I should have a pretty solid case. Should I wait to get the files or go ahead with what I have. I know the consensus is to get the records myself and submit the file all together but I'm afraid if I contacted the wrong place again I will have wasted a year waiting, or if they lost my files somewhere...... Any ideas? Thanks
