  1. Pete, So glad to read that you got help with your meds. I too have a problem with my meds, forgetting to take them on time, etc. I FINALLY got a pill box.... 7 day Morn/Noon/Eve/Night container and it kinda helps.... although I still feel like I need my alarm clock to ring when it's time to take meds... Have you ever heard of "My Health Appliance" or "Med Buddy" ??? I was told about this from a Vet Friend... and figured I'd mention it here just in case noone knew about it. It's a free device from the VA, print off the page at the following website and bring it to your next doc appt.... ask about it. https://www.healthhero.com/products_services/health_buddy2.html Glad your nurse was nice, and your meds are squared away now. ~Robin
  2. Well, I'm never in the mood to "play well with others".... so I just sit behind this keyboard & monitor and cause havoc across the internet... (Um joking!.............. Kinda.) ANYWAYYYYYYYYYYY.... I just signed up for MyHealtheVet a few weeks ago.... and I can say this about it... it's not fully automatically updated (YET), but I do appreciate the services it DOES provide... Hey the "emergency card" along was worth signing up for it in my eyes. Plus it's a great way to refill prescriptions vice going into the Pharmacy. I def. rec' registering for the website. Good post. ~R.
  3. jecsb4 ~ don't mean to "hijack" your thread here... But.... I have an additional Q onto this... I am now 60% S/C... and I was paying for my meds up until this month (or so I have yet to receive a bill)... Should I get a refund for all the meds I paid for prior to getting my approval letter? And if so, how do I ask for a refund? Thanks in advance, ~R.
  4. Pete.... Oh yeah!!! I have that lovely blue pill cutter too. I was in line behind a lady today who had the pill cutting discussion with a pharmacist.... it wasn't a pretty look she was giving him... and it's not even his fault... but we all have gotten mad at the messenger from time to time. The VA should issue punching bags for Veterans.... **tosses two pennies** ~R. :D Husker Fan... yeah, I kinda like your system better. Might as well try that! Thanks! ~R. B)
  5. Free, I am new here, but I have been dealing with the VA for a long enough time to be mummified in the red tape myself. I've never been to the Chicago VRO yet... so you're one step ahead of me. (I am in the NW Suburbs of Chicago) You have my respect for even going to look through the C-File as I can only imagine how frustrating that process is... but I am proud of you for doing that. Keep your chin up and never give up... And remember.... give yourself credit for trying. ~Robin
  6. I am confused by this. I am charged my $8.00 for meds for each bottle in each seperate package.... So... are they saying that we should ask our docs to fill the prescriptions at 2 month intervals to save ourselves money since the VA is only supposed to be charging us the cost of shipping the meds?
  7. I was quite happy with my "meds by mail" until this week. First of all I received A SECOND BOTTLE of a medication with a Different dosage stated on the label, so I had to call pharmacy and ask about that... turns out I should have been mailed the higher dosage originally, which means I could have had better sleep for the last week instead of tossing and turning and all that BS. Secondly, I HADDDDDDDDDDDD ordered (last week) a med I was almost out of, and because it didn't show up by Thursday (no more pills by Thurs.), I had to STRESSFULLY make the 1.5 hour drive to the main VA Hosp. and go in that place with those small hallways.... and walk that huge parking lot... sucked. But they were quick once I got into pharmacy, but the VA Hosp. expereince just freaks me out, so needless to say my nerves were completely shot by the time I started walking BACK to my parked car. Then I sat in the car for another hour trying to calm my nerves enough to drive home DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. My suggestion is.... order your re-fill of your medication about a week and a half AFTER you get your pills each month, that way you don't run the risk of having to DRIVE TO the pharmacy, wasting time, gasoline, and making more gray hairs in the process.... and it gives the pharmacy time to fix their mess-ups too. We know they are overcrowded... and under staffed... and we're all underpaid.... So.... take a deep breath, and then my suggestion would be to scream at the top of your lungs just to help get the frustration out.... Same 'ole game of hurry up and wait.... *sigh* Better luck next time, and hopefully from now on everyone gets their CORRECT meds and dosages and they get them on time.... I for one appreciate NOT having to drive somewhere to pick up my meds....much better for me. ~Robin
