  1. It's a request for reconsideration. I do not have a VSO. I do not need one. I do not want one. I am he. I did 3 requests for reconsiderations in 2.5 years. I submitted a letter from my doctor(ripping apart their same anti-veteran PA's C and P denying me reports) with each one of them and got an increase each time, 0 to 10 to 30 to 50%. As I have always stated, recons work, well, they have for me. Recons = Quick Cash. Believe me or not. Doesn't matter to me. I am doing one now telling the rater to review my claim and my psych's new letter and give me only 30% before I send it to the DRO and demand 70%. Bet you I get 30% before December. This is how you(I)get positive results. I'll write again in Dec.
  2. Repetitious but here goes, 50% and above are Priotity 1. Your VAMC card does not list your priority nor percentage, just Service Connected if you are and Purple Heart if you have one.
  3. Why don't they prescribe what are already in their formulary like Hydromorphone(Dilaudid) and Oxymorphone(Opana) - both stronger and better than Oxycontin and Morphine. I cannot even use the VA because they won't prescribe my monthly 120 Hydromrphone 8mg(for my 50% SC migraines) that my private doctor does. So let them add it to their formulary so you can look at it but still will be prescribed cheap crap called Morphine.
  4. Who performed your an exam? Was it a clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist, or at least a doctor? I have been told by the VA that C and P exams for mental health disorders must be done by a clin psych or psychiatrist. I have one coming up soon and do not want it done by the same anti-veteran physicians assistant who did my last 3 for another illness and denied me. So can someone please assure me that a P.A. cannot do these types of exams?
  5. I am 50% SC for severe, prostrating migraines but can't even get my pain meds from the VA. Isn't that a good one? I have been on various narcotic painkillers for 27 years. I have been prescribed 120 Dilaudid 8mg and 120 Tylenol #4 monthly for the last 3 years by my private doctor. I asked the VA for Dilaudid and they looked at me like I was nuts and said no way. What a joke. Does anyone out there get Dilaudid from the VA?
  6. Does anyone get Dilaudid 8mg prescribed by anyone at any VAMC? I am sick and tired of having to get my painkillers from a private doctor when the VA service connected me 50% for migraines over a year ago.
  7. I feel for you. This is why I cannot use the VA Healthcare System because I have been prescribed for 5 years by my private doctor monthly 120 Dilaudid 8mg(approx Oxy 40) and I know and have been told by many that it would be impossible to get this at a VAMC. I would like to see their PCPs go a few days without my or your medicine after taking it daily for over 5 years. All of that work to get sc and increases but can't get meds at the VAMC. Thank GOD that I have Medicare, it is well worth the 96 a month and additional money for the plan.
  8. Yahoooooo! I am so glad for you getiing the Dil 4mg and 5 a day which is about 20mg oxycodone x 5 but quick acting and much better w/o side effects. Also continuing on the 40mg oxycontin, wow, great combo. In a month or two, you'll be up to Dil 8mg(called the cure all). I would stick with the Oxycontin 40 because Morphine is weaker and makes you sick. Then if in the future you get the Dil 8mg, you will actually be taking like 8 Oxycodone/contin 40mg daily, wow, you should never be in pain. It's just a shame that we cannot use the VA to get our Dilaudid. Wish that I could talk to you on the phone if you would desire so. Send me a personal message? I hope that this all works out for you and gets rid of all your pain. Sincerely, Blanco in PA
  9. No,I didn't start on the 8mg. Took 2mg for a month and then 4mg for another month. I cannot wait to know if he prescribes it for you. I really hope that you get it because it is the only combo that has helped me w/o making me sick or giving me any weird side effects. I believe it may be what you are looking for and will help you too. Maybe it would be best to start with 4mg as Dil is very powerful. An 8mg is the same as a 40mg Oxycontin but quick acting, hits you all at once in about 15 minutes. Also, the Tyl #4 is the same as a Vicodin 10mg but it is a great combo and I have tried everything alone or combined. Well, keep me informed if you get it and if you like it and it helps.
  10. You would not have to worry about the acetaminophen content affecting your liver. Each #4 contains 60mg of codeine and only 300mg of the acet. That's only 1,200mg of acet daily, way below the dangerous intake amount. Let me know if your doc gives you the Dilaudid(gen - Hydromorphone). The reason that I do not use the VA is because they will not give me it and I really know why, the price. They like giving out their much much cheaper Morphine candy.
  11. It took me over twenty years to find the right regimen of meds to combat pain, well, at least for me, everyone's system is diff. Four times daily - a Dilaudid 8mg with a Tylenol#4. Yes, a very strange, uncommon, almost unheard of, combo but I like it and it helps fairly well. Give it a try if they give it to you.
  12. I take Lamictal for mood swings and it works pretty good. My friend takes Neurontin and he says it helps him. I have never heard of this Diph for mood swings. I would suggest a talk with your doc about a switch.
  13. I do not know about any new law but I believe that my VARO already does this, well, at least in two of my claims. When the VA's physician asst(C and P) and raters denied two of my increases, my private doctor sent in letters and I got my increases shortly thereafter. Anyway, it would be great if there were actually a law to make all VARO's do this.
  14. You are not screwed. I am happy to see veterans participating in VA programs meant to help veterans. They try so give them a chance. I believe that the VA will approve your claim rather quickly. I enrolled in the program at the Phila VA in june 2009 and in exactly 4 months I got my increase from 30 to 50%. I also believe that most claims in this program do get approved to prove that the program is a success(understand - the VA is doing a good job by trying new programs).
  15. Doctors who say that they are afraid to write nexuses, of what are they afraid? My doctor has written at least 10 for me and my friend and another two doctors have written about 10 more for my two other friends. After they are submitted to the VA, how many of those doctors have been contacted by the VA. None. Once a doctor writes your nexus, that's it, their involvement is over, but trying to convey that to some doctors is very difficult.
