  1. I have been reading along for several years now. Finally managed to join after weeks of trying to register. I was AD USAF 1986-1990 then became dependent until present. I have been engaged in a conflict with the Oakland regional office over my military medical records. We hand carried records from station to station until everything was scanned prior to our return from the UK in 2007. Now I only have dependent records from 2004 to present with my local base medical center and the VA archive just sent a CD to my congressman that only has the last 2 years of medical records ! They included all kinds of documentation regarding my enlistment, separation, reserve service forms etc. NO MEDICAL records. When I called, they assured me my active duty medical files were at the archive and were already scanned. If what they sent is are the only records they have on me, I am totally SCREWED since I can't show service connection for any of the things I'm dealing with. Is there anything I can do? I am going to call the archive yet again on Monday as well as my DAV rep and congressman's aid. How can 29 years of medical care vanish like this?
  2. I put in a FOIA request for my C-file back in March 2015. I expected to get a box or large envelope of documents. Instead this is what I received Friday. The CD is PDF and searchable, which I like. However, I am still missing service records from Desert Storm so maybe VA doesn't have them. Can anyone tell me another route to get them?

Folks: Although I filed a FDC Claim with all of my DOD, VA and Civilian Medical Records and all were provided to the Regional Office "hard-copy" , I was under the impression that VBA still automatically requests a Vets Service Medical Records (SMR's) from DOD as well as all of the VA Records to be loaded into the new VBMS System because of the "Duty to Assist" Requirements - even if it is duplicating the records that I've already sent in and they have? IS this True? Recently, "ebennefits" is saying that I need to load even more evidence? So, I called the 1800 number and was told that it's their (VBA's) requirement to get the evidence that is being referred to and that I should not worry about the ebennefits notification because it's very outdated? The VBA Rep said, that they were looking at the screen with my information right then and that everything in my c-file was in good shape for my claim with the exception of a couple more C&P exams that I'm scheduled for this week? But, I've been told many times before even if I had any new records and added them that my claim can be taken out of the FDC Program altogether? Finally, I'm having movment with my claim again, so I do not want to risk it? Has this happened to anyone before and what did you do?
  4. FYI....Combat Veterans need to utilize VetCenters. Especially, if you're struggling with your local VAMC. I was slowly and eventually completely becoming disappointed with my Veteran Affairs Medical Center. I've always depended on the counselors at the VetCenter and I truly believe they helped save my life. Just keep in mind. The VAMC doesn't have access to your treatment records at any VetCenter. Therefore, if you need the VetCenters treatment records to support your claim. You'll need to request such information from a particular counselor at the VetCenter. They will provide you a letter of support. Which you in turn will need to submit.
  5. Hi all! Thank you for your service! Husband was just rated at 0% for TBI, this is service connected but No compensation? He was also denied completely on his Epilepsy & shoulder dislocation. He was in Special ops, maybe his records were classified, which is why they couldnt compensate or put the two together, because they could not access records? I am not sure how he can be rated service connected but 0%? TBI can later cause epilepsy, and clearly this happened to him. What do we do? We are trying to obtain his records that are now archived at ST. LOUIS, MO. and planning to get an atty. Anyone been through this? Since they do recognize the TBI, do you think the appeal process may be easier? Anyone w/ any input is much appreciated. THANK YOU ALL !
  6. I'm currently applying for a position within a Police Department... what military records will an agency/employer be able to receive? My question is, will they be able to get full copies of my service record, medical records, etc... or just my DD Form 214 and whatever I provide to them. I didn't know if there is a "by law" clause for Veterans on what potential employers can get from the military. Thanks
