Is Erectile Dysfunction A Rated Condition?

Rate this question

Question

Is E.D. a rated condition? I'm having sexual side effects from my HTN (I'm SC for HTN) meds. My doc took me off of metoprolol and put me on bystolic, which is supposed to have less of an effect on the libido. No change. Now I'm on Cialis, but it is very expensive. Should I bring this up to the VA, or is it a waste of time and effort? Forgive me if this is T.M.I.

I'd let the VA know. You can file a claim, if it's secondary to the meds and the HTN is SC. ED is not ratable condition but can pay about $96 or $97 a month of "k" SMC. Also the VA would prescribe and pay for the cialis.

PR is right! Payment is currently at $96.00 per month via SMC-K. ED is not a percentage that is applied to your combined SC percentage. The SMC payment is separate from what you already receive for your SC percentage.

The VA's pharmacy formulary typically only prescribes two levitra tablets per month. They also give you a pill splitter. The VA docs usually have no problems writing a prescription for other meds (cialis, viagra, etc...) to be filled in a non-VA pharmacy.

ED medication may also cause headaches in some people.

Thanks for the info. So if I go ahead schedule an appt with my VA doctor for E.D. now, would that preclude having to wait for the VA to schedule a C&P after they receive my claim? They can just acquire my medical records from the VA clinic, correct?
