Is My Nephew Entitled To Compensation

Rate this question

Question

Hi. I hope someone can answer this question and also place this into the proper section.

My brother was in the Navy. He was killed on Mother's day 1982. He has a son (jr) who was approximately 8 years old when his father died. He is now 34. Throughout his entire life (since his father was killed), he has blamed everyone for taking his daddy from him, acting crazy (I really think he is), going in and out of jail and prison, etc...

I know he has PTSD due to his father's death, but I need to know if there is someway I can file a claim for him to receive some kind of compensation.

Hoping someone can help with some answers. Thanks

What were the circumstances involved in your Brother's death?

And, the disposition of his service-members insurance, if he had any?

Ok - here we go. We still don't understand. My brother was in the navy attached to camp Le June. Now he had went to ministry school. It was Mother's day 1982. He called my grandmother and me and wished us a Happy mother's day. Went to Burdine's bought me a dress and had it shipped to me. He then went to church to preach his first sermon. All I know is when he got home, he was shot in the back of the head. He was boarding with a naval boarding place.

They first thought it was suicide until I asked what hand was the gun in, they said his right and I told them he was left handed. His ex-wife received his insurance in monthly installments. He was ex navy. She went to investigate his death and 1 year, on the same date they found her dead in her apartment with two gunshots to the head. Then my grandmother and I received the balance of his insurance money. So evidently it was not suicide. His children received military payments monthly until they turned 18.

We, carlie and I, know that is not what you wanted to hear. And, we're sorry for the young man, obviously, and sorry for your loss.
