Just got letter from pcp and he is reducing my hydrocodone from 7.5 to 5.0mg. Reason is he just got results of pulmonary function test--studies compatible with severe obstructive pulmonary disease. Studies indicate the serious side effects of respiratory depression and death this medication can cause. My copd is not a service connected disease. anybody else ever hear of this?

No one should be on Pain Meds unless in the Hospital and Dying. I have had Crohn's Disease for 5 years, and 15 Surgeries total on my Body. I am going to have Surgeries on both Knees, Back, Neck and Right Shoulder this year. I have been in so much pain, but due to my Crohn's I can not even take IB Profin without running the risk of Bleeding Out and having to have a Blood Transfusion. I know that you think you need the Pain Meds bud, but they are so addicting and cause a lot of internal damage down the road. My Twin Brother has Crohn's real bad, and he is addicted to Pain Meds and the Shots you get when you go to the Emergency Room. Good luck to you and if you can not live without the Pain Meds take them, but please try to think of what might happen to you down the road. God Bless and keep us posted

Opiates do cause shallow breathing. have you checked into a cpap machine, they force air into your lungs. like being on a ventilator almost.
