Not sure, but I can't really recall reading any posts from Comp Vets, that were receiving SMC S (1) or straight and additional award of Aid & Attendance. My brother-in-law, VA Pension recipient, did get an A & A Claim Award after his Cancer Dr completed the Application. He was Housebound and required in-home care by his sister and visiting nurses. It was just the (1) Award and I think that bumped his Pension up by about $350.00. Did you apply for either the SMC S or the A & A, were either Denied?
