When Should I Expect To Receive My Retroactive Pay

Question

Hi. I just received an increased percentage rate from 40% to 70% w/ spouse 1 child, due to a CUE claim. I am owed retroactive pay from Sep 2011-present. My questions are: What is the average time to receive this back pay & approx how much should I be expecting or how do I figure it out? I received a deposit for $88 from DFAS the other day, & the deposit comment says: RETSPCL. I have no idea what that means & why I'm getting a deposit. I read somewhere that military pay has to do an audit before the VA releases back pay. Could that deposit be something the military owed me from whatever audit they're supposed to be doing? I just received my very first 70% monthly retirement & VA checks this month & those were correct. I just want to know if I'll be waiting years for the back pay now. Thanks, gurus!

Check your decision on eBenefits.  Mine was not the TDIU that was in my BVA decision.  Turns out another "Lemuel's," who had a negative decision from the BVA, decision was erroneously uploaded to my account so VARO did nothing on my pay.

My attorney had told me that it should not take over 30 days.  Same from checking with the Benefits Office in Cheyenne.  So when I found the eBenefits negative decision I called the BVA stating the page upon which the decision was.  The other "Lemuel's" decision was earlier than mine and was shorter.  So the clerk realized an error was made.  It took 3 days to correct the error and another 60 days to get paid.  My pay was delayed because I had signed an agreement with my attorney to allow here to be paid directly by the VA.  She won't get her check until 60 days after my payment on Aug 22.

Especially the guy that has been waiting a long time.

  1. Also if you get life insurance you may be able to get premiums paid by V A when you file for TDIU now that you are 70% if you are unemployed.
