Can You Claim Scars?

Rate this question

Question

I saw someone posted that they were awarded 30% for scarring from multiple surgeries. Do you have to claim them specifically or will they note that in the C&P exam and automatically give it to you? I have had two stomach surgeries and two back surgeries all in the same areas.

KansasNavy,

To get an idea of what to expect when you file claims for scars, Google and review 38 CFR part 4.118.

Also, Google and review VA form 21-960F-1. This is the VA DBQ for scars.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you and thank you for your service.

I am rated for the Scars, but I never asked for it, did not even know the VA rated that at the time. I have 15 surgeries while I was active including having MRSA cut out of me 7 times, and apparently the VA said I have a lot of large scars that wont heal completely, or something like that. I have heard of other Vets getting 0-10%, but I am the first that I know of that got that high of a SC %. Sorry to hear of your health issues. Remember that you can always file for any condition that you feel was due to SC issues. Good luck and God Bless!!!!
