Coreyspr89, i agree completely in regards to trying to obtain a specialist to do the IMO. Unfortunately, it is often out of a veterans reach financially to afford an IMO from a specialist, and quite often they are reluctant to do imos. In my case, I can no longer travel long distances, the last two time I tried I ended up hospitalized, and there are many other veterans in the same boat. In that case, the only option is to send our recs off to a doctor who is willing to thoroughly review them and write his statement. Dr Ellis is very respected, because he is honest and ethical.  Just because we pay him does not mean he is going to agree that our disabilities are related to a and b, he goes off of our strs, treatment records, in person examination, and so forth. I went to the BVA site under search decisions, you can type Dr Ellis in under" find these words" and review some of his reports. As I stated, there have been quite a few instances when the vets just didn't have the evidence and the Dr stated it was less likely than not due to, etc. That being said, if you are not receiving regular treatment for the disabilities you are claiming, it will be more difficult, I myself have flares of sle every month and go into VA urgent care for them as well. Evidence is king.

Yes I understand Mr. Flores. I fully understand the financial restrictions of most of us Veterans. I was there at one time. However, believe it or not this thread is the most important thread in all of this Discussion Board because an IMO is the Gold Standard to getting an Appeal Approved. A lot of Veterans want to get into a campaign speech knock out drag out my day in court back and forth with the V.A. and fail to realize their subjectivity does very little to win a case. At the appeal level it is simply a matter of Law and Facts which give a Nexus to your current disability. So paying a little money to get an IMO just about guarantees a favorable decision if you get a favorable IMO.

I am digging up an old thread here but wanted to post.  My husband is currently at 90% overall and STUCK here b/c of the incompetence of the VA.  He is an OIF/OEF Veteran and is having a lot of difficulty getting Fibro and CFS service connected.  Right now he has an NOD since November 2018 for about 12 contentions to include the Fibro and CFS issues.  We reached out to Dr. Ellis via our rep who is well known with a lot of Veterans and owners of this site.  Our rep has steered us right for years and I can't imagine not using him for my hubby.  So we reached out to Dr. Ellis' team and we filled out all the paperwork and put together in a binder.  We have him reviewing 7 contentions.  They said that the hips are considered one so we only have to pay for 7 not 8 contentions.  They received the binder last week and said their team will review it and get back to us in about 2 weeks to go over it and if they need anything additional they will let us know.  Then we schedule the appointment and pay the $800 ($500 for 4 contentions/claims and $100 for each additional) and go see Dr. Ellis.  We should be going to see him in March and we are traveling from Florida.  I think having his IMO's will be very helpful for my husband's claims.

Good luck and be safe on your trip!  His IME/IMO helped me greatly!

I did hear that Dr. Ellis was a consummate professional in giving IMO's.  If you can find a doctor locally that does IMO's for SSDI then these guys usually can do good VA IMO's.  They just have to incorporate certain key phrases into the report for the VA.  I got two IMO's from the same doctor who usually did SSDI and Worker's Compensation reports.  I also used a retired VA doctor to do an IMO.  These reports were just perfect, yet still the VA did not grant a 100% rating.  I got my TDIU,  but even though the doctors said I was 100% the VA only granted 70% TDIU.
