If I may interject an additional opinion.  I believe that using his services at the very least will strengthen a claimants case.  Utilizing an established doctor obviously would be stronger, just as a specialist in the field of your disease or injury.  It's probative evidence. It can't just be ignored. Also his opinion will tip the scales in your favor.  The VA will try and will get away with it if you don't challenge them on it. Food for thought. JMO

So, the IME from the gastro doctor fell through(he changed his mind, turns out he does procedures at VA once weekly), I have an appointment with Dr Ellis on April 19, 16. My only concern is my health issues, the lupus flaring up during travel, or the IBS so I hope they have more than one bathroom on the plane, lol. I am pretty much a nervous wreck about flying, I just don't know if I can be in close proximity to so many people, but I will be at that appointment. I am also obtaining an IMO from valor compensation consulting, so far very impressed with them, I will be posting the IMO and IME as soon as they are completed.

Vets:

First of all you are "awesome" and your help and assistance is always welcomed and much appreciated. The good news is that my TBI was sc'd at 10% (low-balled) was approved last week which has moved me up to 90%. I've heard that TBI is very difficult to get SC for especially since the explosion was over 30 years ago--but it was well documented which worked in my favor .They also gave me my 3rd Hearing test this year, but the results just reinforced the hearing loss is sc'd anyway.  Ironically, I took a Headache CP exam as part the TBI  also but they did not approve it because they said it was included in my original Sleep Apnea claim/contention so it could not be compensated as this point? They also, denied SC for my right shoulder injuries so I'm thinking about  challenging that along with all of the other contentions that were either denied or at 0%. I'm not sure if I should challenge everything or just pick out a few contentions that I think I have my best chance of success with an NRO or DRO? I don't have a lawyer and will be doing this all by myself. To get ready for the NOD, I requested my C-file 7 months ago but alas no C-File yet? I'm running out of time and may just have to use the medical records that I have on hand. I'm missing the VES and QTC Exams  which I think are an important part of my case. Anyway, I'm going to get the paperwork from Dr. Ellis' Office so I can get my appointment scheduled and get the IMOs completed for the NOD.

Also, it appears that Dr. Ellis' rates are reasonable and I could afford to get several done which  may improve my chances of getting some of my denied contentions either increased or  to SC?  So, If any of you have any advice and have either worked with Dr. Ellis or competed a NOD and/or DRO and can provide some advice for me then please provide some of your lessons learned...

Godspeed and Good luck Rootbeer22

Guys, Dr Ellis does excellent IME's. I have sent quite a few OWCP claimants to him to fight bogus DR's that OWCP uses, and never lost a case with his medical opinions, a couple have had to go to ECAB ( VCA vets equivalent) but always came out a winner. DR Ellis is a very religious man, so you are going to hear him almost preaching throughout the exam, but it will be well worth it.

If you are being treated from an outside DR, I would also recommend that you give them DR Ellis's report and have them weigh in on his findings, this only strengthens your medical before it hits the VA raters. I would always suggest an IMO/IME before any Vet starts the long VA road, it just gives more medical weight to your claim from the start and in the VA world , that is a big positive going forward.
