ptsd Denied PTSD, Chronic

It is an honor to be numbered among those who help maintain freedom at a cost. I 20% SC Skin and Asthma and 0% Foot. I served under VII Corps, 3-17FA during the GW and saw plenty of action. During the Campaign, we had to guard the oil fields in which I collapsed and blacked out due to exposure to fumes numerous of times from shifting of winds. After our unit returned to Germany and upon being deactivated and reactivated at Ft. Sill, I began having problems dealing. I was a fast track soldier and moved up the ranks quick, after the GW all that changed; drinking heavily, written up for failure to inform of whereabouts, etc. I was Honorably Discharged; went through problems of maintaining employment for 6 years, homeless, and spent 5 1/2 years incarcerated. Within the last 11 years, struggling in marriage and having a roller coaster ride with current job of 9 years.

I was denied PTSD, Chronic; sleep apnea and irritable bowel syndrome; currently being treated for PTSD by 2 VA Psychiatrist, who diagnosed me on 11/25/13 and 4/14/14. How do I write a RFR on old evidence discovered in service, family and GW buddy letters (100% P&T SC); also connect sleep apnea secondary to asthma (which I was diagnosed three years ago, VA)? Any help is greatly appreciated and as I'm learning, my goal is to assist others as well.

In the VBA Decision Letter you received, they provide reasons for denying a claim. What reasons did they give you for denying your PTSD claim?

Do you mean a Reconsideration Request  based on above , and /or a claim based under 38 CFR 3.156?

What was the date of the denial?

Buddy statements- do you mean one of the buddys gets 100%SC  now, for PTSD and  for the same stressor you experienced?

If they were in your same unit, same time and place, that should be great evidence, if the reason VA denied was proving the stressor.

My daughter helped 5 men in the same unit prove their stressor and one of the men sent VA a copy of his VA award letter for the same stressor, same time and place, Vietnam. And they all received additional awards from the Vietnamese Government. The incident and their extreme valor saved many lives.

Buddy statements can sure help a lot. I have a topic here under Buddy Statements and will try to find it.

Forgot to ask.... do you have the CAR or CIB on your DD 214?

There reasons were no evidence show of an event, disease or injury in service. I recently sent my lay, spouse & buddy statements of me being in combat, along with citations and awards from actual combat situations.

 I have Southwest Asia Service Medal w/ 3 Bronze Stars with clusters from the Gulf
