Lung cancer, COPD, Agent Orange

Rate this question

JDMilw

Question

In March of this year I was diagnosed with lung cancer and received a rating of 100% agent orange presumptive.

I underwent radiation treatments and the latest CT/PET scans show no evidence of active cancer.

VA is currently in the process of reevaluating my rating.  I had a pulmonary function test and didn't do too well.  They diagnosed severe COPD.

FEV1 30-49%.

I quit smoking 3 years ago.

What are the chances I will receive a permanent rating for this?  And will there be a residual rating on the lung cancer?

My rating for prostate cancer went from 100% down to 10% after successful treatment.

Thanks for the input.

"All things considered I have been blessed to survive these things.  Not bitter or worried about things I can't control. "

That was well put.

I worry about DD 214s,  Vietnam.

Someone at the Wall told my husband to fill out and mail a DD 149. The form is here under a search......

When he was discharged the DIs or someone  told them all to fill out a form that was used for their DD 214s. But they had no idea what awards they got.

Within a few months after sending in the DD 149, a DD 215 arrived with more awards on it. They also sent him US medals/ribbons but told him to buy the listed Vietnam decorations from a PX,since these were made and issued by the Vietnamese Government.

The PUC was on it ( Presidential Unit Citation). There was scuttlebutt at LeJuene or Quantico that their unit received it in 1968....but he only found out for sure when he got it listed on the DD 215. In 1992.
