How long from decision to notification?

Rate this question

Question

Back on January 12th, 2017, I won a CUE  as well as permanent IU via a decision from a review officer, I won both on the spot.

So here it is some 6 weeks later, and I still haven't heard anything. No information on Ebenefits page, no contact from my American Legion rep-hell he won't even return my calls!

I called the 800 number, and they don't have anything either.

What all goes on between the time you win your case, and when you're actually notified?

Bank app is set to notify me when the "big one" hits, but NOTHING yet.

What is taking so long?

It took about 3 weeks for me to receive the "envelope", and I received a sizable cash payment.  I don't know that there is really anything you can do other than wait.

you may want to call your RO ask them what is going on?....if you got this information unofficially then it may not be the correct information?

usually when we get a letter from our Reps its an unofficial until you get the white packet in the mail from Claims intake Center.

Anywhere from one to two months after you been notified unofficially  you should be hearing from VA or the claims intake center...unless your retro is over 25.000.00  then it may take a while

Usually after you win your claim  they recheck all the paper work  with different raters/Reps and prepare everything that needs to be adjudicated  and double check for mistakes and clarification.(this takes time) unfortunately)

then they write out the award and add the reasons and bases of ''What  We Decided''  they go back and cover them self.....and sometimes that's not enough  if the veteran finds descriptive's  in his claim.

Oh the information is official. The Review officer told me and American Legion rep during the review  that he approved the CUE and IU, right then and there. This was a FORMAL taped review. No BS or word-of-mouth rumors.

My best estimate moneywise is somewhere around 90k, simply because one approved claim goes all the way back to 1990

Jan 12th 2017  was not that long ago    need to give it some more time...the retro is what holding things up...you will need 3 signatures to sign off on the award  with that much retro.

btw Congratulations   and enjoy!

Usually on the first of the next month  which is Feb..but will probably back pay you from the time you first filed if this has been in appeals? or from the time your claim as been under prosecution.

Say they approved you in Jan 12th 2017   the pay should start the following month on Feb 1st 2017

But I'm not familiar with your claim.
