Knee C&P

Rate this question

ShuMan

Question

So I was trying to understand the knee ROM and I just don't get it. Here is the ROM for my LT knee.

[X] Abnormal or outside of normal range

Flexion (0 to 140): 50 to 90 degrees

Extension (140 to 0): 90 to 50 degrees

But at the same time the C&P examiner posted this:

If abnormal, does the range of motion itself contribute to functional

loss? [X] Yes (please explain) [ ] No

If yes, please explain:

unable to straighten knee

Description of pain (select best response):

Pain noted on exam but does not result in/cause functional loss

If noted on exam, which ROM exhibited pain (select all that apply)?

Flexion, Extension

Not sure how this ROM will be rated any guesses?

I dont think you will get above 40% when its only one knee, no matter what, as long as you can walk.  Probably less.

Thanks for the reply broncovet! I think half the battle is over because she gave me a positive nexus letter but the ROM was just odd.

It seems like I recall something where 40% was the max for one knee, but I could be mistaken about that.   As I recall 20% for a knee is more likely and even that requires it show up on xray.  40% is probably overly optimistic, assuming you can still walk.

Agreed, 20% is what is most common. I would be ok with that, but I would prefer  30% because 30% would up my percentage from 60 to 70%. I also put in for shoulder arthritis and another shoulder issue but I did not get called for a C&P for those so that most likely means they got denied. Now the waiting starts. Good or bad I'll be sure to post the results when I get them.
