Hello To All, I've started to gather information pertaining to my VA medical care and I note some discrepancies in the file and in information available on myhealthevet...wondering if someone may have a suggestion for me? I noted the out of range glucose levels in previous lab tests on myhealthevet, but notice the test results are not all there, specifically, for a certain time frame. So, I recently requested a copy of my VA medical records at the local VAMC which I just received and test results are still missing. As well, the entire pcp visit for that time frame is missing from the file. I don't know what to make of it, heads nor tails, but it doesn't look good to me…

I am 100 percent service connected disabled. I went to my occupational therapy appointment today, which is in the polytrauma/pain, I get several accommodations arranged --wheelchair ramp, shower chair, etc. I am asked if I am a OEF/OIF veteran. No, I answer. They review my record, and say they're are going to call someone. They did. The person explains I am not OEF/OIF --i knew this-- and the terms refers to individuals who were "boots on the grounds" I am then told that polytrauma is being limited solely to OEF/OIF veterans. I explain that I was in the program before, and that I should be in it now. They agree. But because I am not OEF/OIF I cannot receive treatment. …

Hello To All, Wondering about some things here and wondering if anybody may be familiar with an appointment abbreviation? I signed up on myhealthevet and noted an appointment for mental health, but it's not listed as any of my other past appointments. It's noted as "mh-pac" and I'm curious if anybody knows what that would mean? The appointment came to me rather oddly, so my suspiciousness was alerted since I'd never experienced an offer for an appointment for mh, without me requesting it, certainly not for a mh evaluation. Is this a new way of VA doing things? Anyways, if someone is familiar with that abbreviation, I'd very much appreciate your sharing any knowledge ab…

How are the other VA Medical Centers? Mine is San Diego VAMC. I plan to move when my claim get through this miserable claims/appeal process of HELL Since I have only been using San Diego, and plan on moving to a small town somewhere to get the hell out of the big city B.S. I am wondering how the VAMC's are in othe rplaces.. Oregon? Washington? Idaho Nevada? I prefer a cooler climate and would like to go North, preferably west coast, maybe near mountains too... I suffer from fevers... and hate hot temperatures.. especially during fevers... plus I can't enjoy small walks in heat... and miss rain,, doesn't rain here much.. I would love open roads, p…

Went to roi to get treatment records for MH appts so I could file my claim. After an hour of sitting I was told that I would not get MH records that day. They have to Gi through MH first. Is there truth to this? Why do thru need to give the ok to release MY records to me?

First off, everything has been rated as service connected. I have a continual GI bleed from an ulcerized anastamosis. In other words the VA has resectioned by colon 3 times and has not been successful in stopping the bleeding. Last wekk I find out it's bleedung again. To keep it short is it possible to get someone other than the VA (hopefully someone who's had success at this before) do the surgery and have VA pick up the tab and supply necessary after surgery supplies. They've already taken 1/2 of my colon and I'm afraid they'll want to remove the res and go the bag. I already have a neo bladder and really don't want anymore medical hassles. Any advice would be appreciat…

I went to the ER after talking with the VA's 1800# back in 06 for a service connected migraine. The bill was like 2200 the hospital sent the bill to the VA but they never paid. Should the VA pay this bill since it is service connected and the ask-a-nurse # told me to go? Also I am 70% and the last time I went to the VAMC they charged my Insurance(through wife, only had it a year now) for an EKG is this acceptable and what I should expect?

I don't know about you, but I sure was taken back by the fact that the Regional Office Chicago is like a locked down fort with the veteran having access to VA employees, one at a time. You enter and must be screened for weapons. Past screenining is a foyer with washrooms and a large waiting room with a window at one end of the waiting room. There is a long hallway off to the side of the waiting room that has the offices of the service organizations. That is as far as you are allowed to go. The claims are handled on the upper floors somewhere. The only contact with a VA employee is at the window in that waitng room. They take turns at the window, must be some sort o…

I was seen last week in my regular VAMC and the new cardiac doc told me I had no choice but to let whomever the VA picked to do my bioventricular implant in Augusta and if I tried going to Dorn they would just send me to Augusta for the procedure, he made the remark that the surgeon that would be doing the implant has done "thousands" of them, The problem with that story is these devices are only about 2 years old, I doubt any one doctor has implanted "thousands" of them since the FDA approved them so my wife called the Heart failure clinic at Dorn and talked to them and the lady on the phone looked at my records and said yes she would make a consult for me …

Last October I was referred to the pain clinic but the referral was dropped as I don’t use the VA for primary health care. When I found this out by pulling my records in January I got an appointment in May to interview for a PCP. I met with a very helpful doc who agreed to resend the referral and become my PCP. In June the Nurse practitioner in the pain clinic said I was still not assigned a PCP and she would try to get it straightened. out. Three weeks ago a pain clinic pharmacist sent a request for a medication dosage to be increased. That message went nowhere as I do not have A PCP. Tried again last week and still not getting a response. Saturday I run out of thi…
