I am really tired of the crap that the VA employees put into my medical records. Last week I had to see a doctor to get a new power chair, (my old one is about 5 years old and worn out). Any way, the doctor wrote crap in the medical record like: I recommended gentle ROM and stretching / for the neck/shoulders/arms and legs in a sitting or laying position we we reviewed; precaution: fall He never said anything like this. he also wrote: we discussed modalities suss as ice/heat/TENS and prosthetic.. he never said this to me either... These are minor examples he wrote other stuff that wasn't true either but I am just trying to make a point here. Last year…

So I have been service connected with PTSD, I get treatment at the VA, Ive been going to the VA for 6 months. My job requires a Department of Transportation type physical every two years (its the OPNAV 8020/6). During the physical I stated that I was service connected with PTSD, and the doctor performing the physical said all they needed was a letter from my doctor saying I can perform the duties and responsibilities of my job and that I am actively being treated for the condition. I go to my VA mental health doctor and they 1. STILL dont recognize my PTSD service connection, and 2. Said they are unable to make a statement on my ability to work or not. 3. They will only …

Hello, I posted on here before concerning my husband who is in desperate need to assistance while we work to get his disability increased. He's currently 50%. I'm in another state for my own health issues. He has severe ptsd symptoms that make it where he can't drive to the VA hospital that is 90 minutes away. He's had horrible experiences with the mental health people there... I've heard about Veterans' Choice but most of what I read is negative... and I'm confused. Are there any options for him to see a mental health professional who is in his town and have the VA cover it? Thank you Nancy

Is there a correct way to request to change VA facilities because you have a been abused neglected and lack of care and still receive mileage for driving the longer distance?

After the VAMC travel office denied me a travel voucher request, I did my homework because it did not pass the smell test. I wanted to verify qualifications for my travel and explore any potential exclusions. I also learned that if the VA denies travel, they must do it in writing so you can appeal the decision. My primary care doctor asked me to return early the following week to have fasting blood labs performed. I completed this the next business day and visited the travel office to get a voucher. This is where it gets interesting. The employee refused to issue a voucher because I "did not have an appointment in the system" for that day. I visited the Patient …

If you collect travel pay for your VA medical treatment visits, it is important to know that you can also collect travel pay for Community Care treatments. When going to your Community Care visit, ask for a work excuse. You will need to file that in conjunction with your travel voucher. If your Community Care facility is closer than your VAMC, you may receive a lower payment or no payment if it is too close to qualify. The reverse is also true. For more information about how to file this kind of travel voucher combo, please contact your VAMC's Travel department.

Hello everyone, I wanted to share an interesting experience and some tips if you seek care in a non-VA emergency room or are admitted there. First, I qualify for non-VA emergency care because I am 100% P&T, so this information unfortunately will not apply to all veterans. You have 72 hours from the time of the emergency room visit to contact your VAMC community care or business office. In my case, I went to the ER and was admitted on a Saturday, so both of those departments were closed. After the non-VA hospital saved my life, I recall a financial counselor lady visiting. She indicated the VA would be covering the care costs (as I was previously admitted). She …

Moderators please move this to where it should be if its in the wrong place. I just got back from the War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) in Palo Alto Ca. I am planning on giving everyone a full review and outline of what happens there from a patient standpoint. While this outline is specific to Palo Alto I am fairly confident that the locations in New Jersey and DC are roughly the same. When I was setup to go down there I tried in vain to find much information on the program and I told myself I would provide a detailed account of how things go when I got done. This will probably be a pretty long account of the program so it might cover a few posts h…

I'm not sure if anyone will have the answers to this post, but I'll ask anyhow... BVA granted me 100% TDIU back on Aug. 7 of last year, retro to 2009. I have the BVA Decision Letter, but the new rating has not yet been put into effect. I just had a tooth fall apart an hour ago. It will need a crown at best, or maybe even an implant. (My civilian dentist saw it coming and told me what was going to happen when he repaired it awhile back.) Even with my insurance, I'm looking at up to $1,000 or more out of my pocket to repair it. My questions are: 1. Should the VA dentist over in Shreveport let me make an appointment and fix my tooth, with no proo…
