VA awarded SMC-S, then removed. Don't understand why?
My claim was filed in Feb, 2014 and awarded in July, 2015. I am 100% schedular for back disability. I was awarded SMC-S during rehab (additional 100% ratings after surgery) for 2 hip replacement surgeries (in fall of 2004 & spring of 2005), secondary to the 100% schedular rating. The rehabs overlapped and SMC-S was awarded for total of 17 months (100% plus additional 60%). After the 17 months for rehab, I was awarded 30% for each hip for a total of 60% additional. The SMC-S was retro for the 17 months during 2004-2006, then they took it away after the 17 months in May, 2006. Shouldn't the SMC-S have continued based on the two 30% hip awards ((if added = 60%; if combin…

ptsd SMC (S) Confused
I'm rated 70% TDIU P&T for PTSD with MDD, no future exams, and cannot leave my apartment to work a 40 hour week. Or work, period. Trying to read into all these interpretations of what "substantially confined" means is confusing. What do I need to submit for this SMC "S", or am I not eligible? If I am eligible how do you request this, is it a claim? Or do you just write a letter? Thanks.

Do I qualify for SMC-S
I am 100% P & T for a service connected aortic aneurysm. I am 10% SC for hypertension. I am 20% SC for painful surgical scars , bilateral lower extremities. I am 30% SC for ischemic stroke with right homonymous hemianopia. I am 10% SC for tinnitus. I am also 0% SC for bilateral hearing loss. I am also 0% SC for peripheral vascular disease of the right and left lower. I represent myself , so I need advice as to if I qualify for SMC-S and if I do, how to go about filing for it.

CUE I filed regarding SMC-S non-award; they are asking for Form 21-526EZ?
Briefly ..... I received a decision on my claim on July 23, 2015. The VARO failed to award me SMC-S for bilateral 30% ratings. (30% each for each hip replacement). I am 100% rated P & T and the two 30% ratings combine with bilateral factor to 56.1% rounded to 60%. I was not awarded SMC-S for these ratings (100% plus 60% additional). This is what I filed CUE on. I posted back on August 15th the following post: http://www.hadit.com/forums/topic/63768-va-awarded-smc-s-then-removed-dont-understand-why/ , and I received excellent information and advise from this forum. I went ahead and developed my CUE request basically stating that the RVSR committed CUE in not awarding …

ptsd Diagnosed housebound in 2008 by VA; is med diagnosis binding?
Hi everyone! I started going to VA in 2008. I just discovered in my medical file that psychiatrist resident, as well as the head psychiatrist approved her diagnosis that I am housebound. That's 2 doctors. Then, over the next 2 years or so, many details in med record support housebound. Sep 09, filed disability. 50% granted. (ptsd, depression, cannabis dependence) Approx. May 2015, filed for increase. 100% granted, same as above. I filed NOD. My question regards this newly discovered evidence of record that shows since 2008, i was diagnosed housebound. I also have current evidence of housebound, it's no mystery around here that I don't go anywhere…

SMC-S PTSD CONFUSION
CONFUSION!!!!!!!!!. For what it is worth here is a September post from a veterans wife "Hello everyone. My husband was just awarded sc for sleep apnea by the BVA. They sent it back to the RO to be awarded. This will now give him SMC-s since he is 100% for PTSD alone and the sleep apnea award will put his other combined totals above 60%. The va.gov website says he should see a change in pay in 1-2 months. Anyone with experience with this and how long did it take for your award to show up after BVA granted appeal? And do they give retro for SMC-s?" There seems to be confusion among knowledgeable veterans, advisers on different veterans forums as to wh…

Would I qualify for SMC-S / housebound?
After my heart attack in early April I have brain fog and am trying to determine if I qualify for SMC-S or housebound. I'm 100% P&T for 10+ years and filed a claim for heart attack at the beginning of May. I am not medically cleared to return to work yet. Bilateral ratings 20%, 20%, 10%, 10% = 48% Single ratings 40%, 30%, 30%, 30%, 20%, 10%, 10%, 10%, 10% Factoring in the bilateral and singles, I calculate 96% I also have a separate single rating of 60% I looked up SMC-S laws and found: Would I qualify?

I just learned something from a vso, and I'm checking it. I have always found that I get really good advice on this site thank you all I have a PTSD rating of 70% which gives me tdiu and is permanent and total. I have a TBI rating of 70%. I do not qualify for SMC s because the PTSD is secondary to the TBI. Is this correct?
