Currently TDIU & SMC (s)... If Increased to 100% Schedular, Do I Lose SMC (s)?
I asked this on another vets forum, still haven't got it hashed out yet. I just won my BVA appeal last week. VLJ granted TDIU back to 2009 for my back, and granted SMC(s) for other conditions (also retro to 2009, as with all of the granted issues). Here's where it gets sticky to me: The SMC is based on having one disability that is rated 100%, in my case it is the TDIU for the back. I qualify for the SMC because in addition to the back, I have 50% depression + 10% +10% radiculopathies + 10% residuals of Hepatitis. The other issues he granted, though, are going to have big percentages with them; DVT/PE with anticoagulant therapy should be 60%, OSA with Bi…

Exam
Just scheduled my SMC exam hoping it goes right the first time not sure if this is where I request the type of SMC it’s been pending since 4/14/2017? But I never requested a letter type L or T... I can guarantee they will not give A 32 year old T no matter how bad my residuals are and how bad my cognitive awareness is..

Trying To Understand The Requirements For SMC S
I admit it. I am lost. I don't understand a lot a lot of the posts or responses concerning the concerning SMC S orhow to qualify for it. In my case all of my injuries occured from one service connected injury. So would that mean that I would never qualify for SMC S because my additional disabilities are related to my tbi accident/injury? I Have heard Buck52 write something about that onlybeinv one of three ways of qualifying for SMC-S. Maybe someone could write a bookentitled "VA Benefits, For Dummies", if someone hasn`t already.

I do not qualify for SMC s because my PTSD is secondary to my TBI
I just learned something from a vso, and I'm checking it. I have always found that I get really good advice on this site thank you all I have a PTSD rating of 70% which gives me tdiu and is permanent and total. I have a TBI rating of 70%. I do not qualify for SMC s because the PTSD is secondary to the TBI. Is this correct?

I'm rated at 100% for PTSD with MDD with psychotic features, 60% for CFS, 30% for IBS. I had to medically retire from my job back in June of 2014. I got approved for Social Security in December of 2014. I get the SMC based on housebound criteria. My question is do I qualify for SMC L for Aid & Attendance. Thanks in Advance for any help...

A change in SMC S (Housebound)?
Greetings Vets!! I'm rated 100% P&T for MH and other physicals disabilities and haven't worked in 8 years. I was on IU before and after being deemed unable to be retrained via voc rehab and also a ssd approval, I was increased to P&T. I just recently was informed about smc (s) from another vet with similar issues and not working as well. I checked over my award letter and it basically stated that I didn't qualify for statutory entitlement but that was all. I asked my VSO about it and he stated even though I'm not working and I only get out for appointments that I wouldn't get smc (s) due to the way the VA looks at the entitlement. He gave me the link to 38 CFR 3.3…

surgery last month SMC S eligible?
Top of the morning, i just had 13 level fusion july 20, 2017 (Spinal). There are numerous factors in filing either a new claim or a rate for increase or reconsideration. i was recently granted 100% IU with no P&T. i have an appt. Oct 2018. My back rating was raised to 20% from 10%. The surgery i just had was new and after that rating. That rating was given in June 2017. This surgery was separate. New claim or increase? I start physical therapy tomorrow. 36 visits. Twice a week. I am not house bound, i guess? I do use a cane. My wife does help me around the home with my normal routine. This last claim i was given a 90% overall from 80%. This past claim i was given 5…

SMC-S Eligibilty
I'm presently rated at 90% for Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia ( a rare form of Non-hodgkin's lymphoma), IGM monoclonal gammopathy with peripheral neuropathy. I'm also rated for TDIU or 100%. Additional ratings are 40% left leg, 40% right leg, 30% right arm, 20% left arm and 0% transient ischemic attack . The 40, 40, 30, and 20 are all for peripheral neuropathy. My ratings made it very confusing to me if I would be eligible for smc-s because they are all the same or does the bilateral rating make me eligible? Affecting both legs and both arms. Thank you for your help.

hearing loss Currently SMC S - Confused on Elibility for higher level
I am new to this forum and hope I am posting in the right section. My husband fought the VA for the last 10 years and in 2014, the Board of Appeals granted him 100% with SMC S, P&T. I am confused as to the levels of SMC and if he is entitled to a higher level of SMC due to a recent claim that was adjudicated, giving him a temporary rating of 100% for lung cancer for 6 months. His disabilities are as follows: PTSD with alcohol dependence - 100% Lung Cancer - 100% (temporary for 6 months) Bilateral hearing loss - 70% Tinnitus - 10% Right fibula stress factor - 0% Right foot degenerative joint disease - 20% Left foot degenerative joi…
