What caregiver options are available for pre9/11 vets?
I’ve been pretty messed up for a lot of years and physically mentally unable to do anything with my va benefits until a few years ago when I got help, so I was 50% for 20 years. With ptsd since Iraq and chronic fatigue / fibromyalgia since 2010, i just finally got rated 100% p&t effective 2 years ago. My wife my caregiver all these years but I lost all other financial benefits except va so I am trying to find out how to get caregiver for my wife. I am 90s vet. I did read about smc l but my experience with c p exams has left me in a place where I’d rather eat a bullet.

A&A For Totally Disabled Veteran Spouse?
Any body know about the New A&A Program For Vietnam Veterans spouses that are totally disabled and in Need of another person to help with most daily activities , this program started some time back but was for mostly Gulf War Vets and 911 But recently the VA has made a prevision so that Vietnam Veterans spouses that are totally disable use the A&A Program...in need of assistance. I read that its only for 100% P&T Veterans spouses...they add to the Veterans monthly compensation pay However when I went to check the eligibility online they said my income was to much that this was for Veterans with an income less than 2000.00 monthly. so may…

Dazed and Confused Caregiver Denied
I've been 100% TDIU for the past 13 years I am SMC with most the alphabets. But primarily loss use of both feet and hands. When the Caregivers program opened for my wife we applied of course we were denied. The reason was my records do not indicate a need for a caregiver. Plus I guess the interview my wife and I did they did not feel I needed enough help. I can't drive. I can't wash my legs or feet. I can't put on my socks. So I'm going to see my PCP but not sure what needs to be done and not sure if it needs to be for a period of time. Any suggestions? comments.

a little confused
Im trying to figure out today why I was denied last time today. I will be talking to the woman in charge again who said my condition isn't severe because I can drive myself. When I applied in June was I was denied since then I have an appeal decided which granted me Permanent and total for my TBI which was just raised to 100% scheduler. What more would I need to show this program to help me and my family my recent C&P my wife explained how she has to be the one to use the GPS or we get lost?I was denied for the caregiver program.

So, where is the VA caregivers program (PCAFC) headed from here?
Seems like the VA is fumbling around in trying to salvage the program and naintain some kind of self dignity in the process. https://www.disabledveterans.org/2022/09/15/caregivers-take-fight-right-to-mcdonough-issue-remy-challenge/

Never formally applied
I never actually formally applies the woman in charge don’t waste my time a year ago I’ll deny you can drive to your appointments. Fast forward one year I’ve been going to treatment for two years for my TBI I was put on SSdI and made 100 p and t. Just recently I’ve been seeking care for myself, along with my two children 1 and 4 so I may attend my 2 to 3 appointments a week for cognitive therapy. Now my wife has to continue working a part time job so we don’t lose our home. I was denied SMC they said because I can swallow a pill on my own and they never addressed actually remembering to take my meds. But I’m tired of the appeal game and I am already talking to a vso who i…

Always missing their deadline
But why is it when the VA says we will call you on Friday with our answer you start to laugh in your head. Wait that’s what they told me and my wife so my wife calls at the end of the day and leaves a VM, to see if we had any news. The coordinator was nice and said to both of us we should most definitely should be getting help I just hate when they tell you a date and always miss it every time it’s sad but expected....

Caregiver and eligibility of Veteran
Hello all! I haven’t had the need to post here in a long time, but it sure was helpful then. My husband is 100% PTSD disabled. Now he is diagnosed with a dementia. I read that Vietnam vets are twice as likely to develop dementia, however it is not now on the list of presumptive diseases, as was his prostate cancer… Multi-infarct, vascular dementia is suspected—MRI pending. He also has obstructive sleep apnea and REM sleep disorder related to the PTSD. All pointing to cause of dementia. Can someone tell me about receiving caregiver compensation. He can no longer drive and forgets to do some of his self cares. I have been to the VA caregi…

Can I receive Post 911 Caregiver and apply for A&A
Can I apply for A&A, while currently on Post 911 Caregiver program at the Highest Tier? My VA MH Doc filled out my DBQ for increase on PTSD I should have done this 2 years ago, but I absolutely hate the PTSD C&P Exams. If I apply for A&A, or SMC which should I apply for? Thanks in advance

Granted for Cervical Spine
Greetings Great News! The VA recently granted my cervical spine claim as "service-connected." Please take a look at the attached documents and let me know if I have grounds to submit a CUE on this claim because I believed an error was made on the initial claim decision in 1999.
