Skin Cancer
Hello there. My primary doctor is concerned about a spot on my face that looks to him very suspicious. He wants to send me to a dermatologist who deals with skin cancer. Is that visit and or any skin cancer treatment covered by ChampVa? Also my other concern, on my last Dr check up the office coded the visit as an annual physical/exam. ChampVa completely denied the claim. My Dr office is not changing the coding. How can this even be right? We are always talking about preventative care. An annual physical would fall into that category I would think. I am just shocked they will not pay the office visit. Thank you for any and all answers…

Deductibles??!?! or is it really a Premium?
so wife finally using Champva. first claim processed and we get a bill in the mail. its $50 more than the doctors services tally up to. we call champva today and they let us know this is the deductible. but this doesn't makes sense to me. i worked in the insurance field for few years dealing with medicare and medicaid along with biggies like HUMANA and BCBS etc. from what i understand the doctor bill us for about 2k. champva paid their 75% and then they added the $50 bucks on top of our 25% co-insure payments(they didnt like me calling it a copay on the phone btw...they kept correcting me saying its "cost share") so, after we get off the call because i could s…

Tricare vs CHampVA
@Hamslice wait so you are retired from NG with 20+ ? or just was NG? i can only find retirees eligible for tricare. hasnt she always been eligable for tricare if thats the case though- not just since your win? maybe someone has something more on topic or maybe im missing the Retiree part(which seems like you wouldnt ever be eligable for champva if you were retiree, even before 60) https://www.va.gov/health-care/family-caregiver-benefits/champva/ https://www.va.gov/survivors/faqs.asp#FAQ11

Can a widow lose her CHAMPVA
I have a question, does a widow of a deceased 100% Agent Orange veteran lose her CHAMPVA when she turns 65-year-old? Since I am not familiar with this program, I told her that I would check it out. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Any literature that will explain this next step or is there something wrong or off?

Humana
So, now the promise from the Army I received when I entered is going to be broken again. First time was, Tricare for Life, being FREE, "FREE HEALTHCARE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY", well that's not correct. Even if I except paying the monthly fees and the co-pays, because of where I live, I would have to pay everything not covered by Tricare or Medicare, etc. Last year my wife's care cost $245,000.00. Tricare told me they can't tell me what is covered and where my wife would go until I register with them. I can't take that chance. I have a local (region) Medicare advantage plan that I only pay the monthly fee and a fixed copay of $1200.00. So, I am not taking T…

Need Help With ChampVA for my wife.
My wife is 42. My wife had solely CHAMPVA. She got sick with ESRD. She was on dialysis for several years and the state paid her Medicare Part B. She miraculously got better and she is no longer on dialysis. The state ceased paying her Part B. ChampVA subsequently dropped her ChampVA because you are required to carry Part B if you have Part A. Otherwise you lose you ChampVA. Now my wife did not realize she needed to maintain her Part B. At the time she did not have money to allocate for Part B. She did not realize she would lose ChampVA. Anyway, Social Security will not allow her to acquire Part B. So she cannot get ChampVA back. This all doesn't make sense to…

How does CHAMPVA work
I’m 100% P&T and my son’s mom recently passed away. I now have to get him covered with health insurance and do not know how CHAMPVA works. Is it like regular health insurance? I don’t understand the cost sharing thing. Is there a co-pay? Thanks

Do dependent parents qualify for CHAMP coverage?
I am trying to plan ahead. I'm 100% P&T. My parents are in their 70s. My wife's parents are in their 50s. I know that if they move in with us, we can apply to have them added as dependents. I realize there are income and net worth requirements for this. If they are approved to be a dependent, would they qualify for CHAMPVA medical coverage like my wife and children?

Champva
Rated at 80% IU.signed wife up a month or so ago and haven’t heard a thing. Will they eventually send card and booklet explaining benefits? Should I talk to VSO about it? Or does it take a while to get her in the system. What type benefits can she receive? She needs hearing aids.

CHAMPVA Required?
Recently received 100% P&T, so wife and daughter are eligible for CHAMPVA. I have health insurance (FEHB) through federal gov retirement for entire family. My questions: Is Champva automatic or do you need to enroll family? Do you have to enroll/accept Champva? Are there any draw backs to enrolling family in champva if you have other insurance? I read on the OPM website, FEHB is primary payer, then champva. Thanks.

Bad experience with the CHAMPVA hotline
This is the first time I have experienced this with the CHAMPVA hotline 1-800-733-8387 after calling dozens of times over the years. It is pretty typical to have somewhat lengthy wait times to speak with an agent. This time I must have drawn the short straw and spoke with a lady with a very heavy foreign accent. Although she gave her name at the beginning of the call, I could not understand it clearly due to her accent. During the call, she was very short and came off a bit mean. She conststantly interrupted me. I had to ask the same question several times because she would not listen to what I said. Eventually, my BP and anxiety level began to rise, so I kindly asked to …

Champva or Medicare for all

Our healthcare system
This is an interesting read about health care costs. After reading thru my bills for a minor surgery my wife had, I noticed that this Dr. was right on about the charges. My wife has ChampVA which is a little different than Medicare. I called Blue Cross and dropped my Medicare supplementsl insurance. https://truecostofhealthcare.org

Champa/Tricare
I was recently awarded 100% P&T, retro back to 2010. The packet/award letter was very vague as to what additional benefits I am enttitled to now except to say Chapter 35 benefits. My questions are is it Champa, or Tricare that I am eligible for for me, my wife and two daughters? Someone said that the Champa/Tricare would reimburse me for medical costs I have incurred going back to 2010....is this true? Because I have used a HSA with a family deductible over the years that is 5k...We pay out of pocket each year before anything is covered. How do I apply for Champa/Tricare? What other benefits am I entitled to and how do I apply for them. …
