Hello everyone! (Mods, if there is a more appropriate sub forum for this, feel free to move it) Ive always received a great deal of help from this community, so I thought I’d ask about this current conundrum. I just had my initial meeting with a psych doc about getting back in daily meds for mental health treatment. The session went well, but there’s something that is worrying me a little. Shortly before returning to therapy, I had experimented with marijuana and CBD oils as a sleep aid. The doc asked me if I was using any drugs and I told him no(which I’m currently not). He asked if I would pass a tox screen and I said yes, and before I left the facility…

Hi, I’m going to be starting a new medication called RENFLEXIS (biosimilar to remicade). I’ve been on multiple biologics up until this point so I am familiar with how TNF blockers work. The part that makes me nervous is the medication is administered through an infusion and the complications appear to be more than the other meds I’ve taken. I wanted to see if anyone on here is on this, or has been on it, that can share their experience? I feel positive that it will help me, just nervous having to switch things up yet again.

Please, stop saying pot kills pain. Back it with study for it to be fact. As far as I know it is opinion. I am extremely annoyed and pissed when people who say this or push this. I know real pain, and people that have never experienced great suffering have some inside knowledge that sick people were never told? I have limited options with pancreatic disease and pain, not to mention spinal disease, liver disease, etc... and know that pot only got me high, had no help at all with pain, and the other stuff people make and spread saying it is medicinal are full of it. Someone, please only use it as opinion in posts and discussions. If you have references from professional stu…

That are now on medical marijuana for pain please give details of the best one you found to work. I am looking for a strain or type that will give me energy, take care of the pain but won't get me stoned!!! I do know I am going to get a little high with the THC but I am not looking to get such a high that I cannot do anything. I am now just waiting for the State of Florida folks to enter me into the database so I can go do the dispensary. I've been looking over the brochure the PM office gave me to the dispensary I am going to go to. Around where I live I have to travel an hour away to the nearest one. To understand how the dosages work they don't provide a…

Not sure what forum this question belongs. Start here. I am retired in another country and am under the foreign medical program. I pay for my medical treatment and then request reimbursement. Highest bill I have submitted so far is $900. Now I have been diagnosed with Carotid sinus hypersensitivity which requires a pacemaker. Two doctors from two different hospitals have agreed with the diagnosis. Minor pressure on an carotid artery can make the heart slow down. One doctor said it can make it stop. Requires a pacemaker and cost around $6,000 Is there any way to get VA to say whether this condition would be covered before I have it done since I h…

I’ve been doing my own research on pain and using other meds besides the opioids. I was watching some documentary and came across this. The brain actually gets rewired because of chronic pain. The chemicals in the brain gets all out of whack and we who are in chronic pain gets addicted to pain. This addiction is not an addiction on narcotics or alcohol but it’s a brain addiction without the cravings. Read this below to understand more in detail: https://www.iflscience.com/brain/parkinsons-drug-could-treat-patients-chronic-pain/ The medication Carbidopa/Levodopa causes our bodies to release dopamine in the brain which in turn helps with…

I was on ambien for several years before the VA stopped prescribing it to me. Since then, they have been playing wack-a-mole with various anti-anxiety, anti-psychotics for sleep instead. I recently tried a lunesta from a friend and it was amazing. I slept so well. I tried Klonopin and it worked a little too well. 2 questions: Do you have a script from the va for a real insomnia med that works? If not, how do you get it? I would hate to go out of pocket for a civilian doc only to get turned down for a script. Thanks

recently was called by VA pharm to setup a phone consult with VA pharm to ask questions about the pain med i'm on. (for 10yrs). caller mentioned this is a new protocol for this VA. i've never had this type of call before. usually PCP would generally ask about such things with each visit. caller mentioned some med, forget the type, something about blood type med. high blood pressure or thinner or something, when i asked what the call was about. i'm not even on that type med that the caller mentioned. can't help but have a sense of suspicion with that reply. with all the crack down on pain meds in this country, wondering if this is a prelude to them switching gear…

I have been paying for Medicare each month roughly $133 or so per month since I was approved for SSDI in March of 2017, and I am 100% T&P (receiving care through the VA). I have never used an outside doctor using Medicare, and never have used the benefits. I want to make sure that I am utilizing all of the benefits/plans that I am approved for. Do I need Medicare/is it worth the monthly payment? I would like to use an outside doc outside of the VA anyway, due to some of the lack of care or rude treatment that some of the doctors have shown. Do I just contact any PCP and ask if they take medicare to start seeing them for my annuals, etc. Lastly, will I be c…
