Pete posted this today so I am pinning it as a topic. Hate to tell you all but your local pharmacy has nothing to do but fill new prescriptions. The VA has centralized all the mails by med for better efficiency . They have a new 800 number (800) 983-0933 8am to 4;30 pm CST.

http://www.pbm.va.gov/NationalFormulary.aspx VA Prescription Benefits Many veterans prefer to have their prescriptions filled at the St. Louis VA Medical Center to take advantage of the pharmacy benefit available to veterans. The VA Medical Center Pharmacy cannot fill prescriptions written by non-VA physicians. Patients are eligible for medications only for those conditions for which they are receiving active treatment at the VA Medical Center. The VA Medical Center will not provide medications that are not listed on the VA Medication Formulary

About a week and half ago I had what I am guessing was a pain flare up. I felt it coming for a week prior to it happening. During the event I was working and the pain moved and crossed every muscle and join in my body. It last for 14 hours. I am waiting on a doctors appointment next week, but I have messaged my doctor about the event. What I am wondering is can I talk to my doctor at the VA about CBD oil? The reason being is I do not want to become another vet that get 50 different prescriptions. I want something that will manage my pain and other issues without the very bad side effects.

How bad off do you have to be to get a scooter paid for by the VA? I have 40% combined on each of my feet. I have a hell of a time walking around the VAMC in Tampa. I don't even use it any more if I have to go to the main hospital because it means lots and lots of walking.

I get insulin for my diabetes from the VA. Every month it is a struggle to get them to prescribe enough for me. I think they want me to measure it with an eye dropper. Does anyone else have this problem with the VA? I was in the hospital for DMII for a week two years ago. Then the VA just dumped my care in my lap. If not for my wife I think I would be dead by now. I am on a pretty rigid schedule for my injections. The VA is really failing me on my HBP and the DMII. I know it is my responsibility to take my insulin, but I get zero support from VA expect infrequent mailings of insulin if I beg for it. That stuff is expensive. Nobody supervises my care. I see the…

I went for an eye exam yesterday and I was very happy with the results. I know I have been down on them in the past but the service is just as good as a regular clinic now days IMO. I am still not crazy about the dental service but maybe that has improved as well. I need to see a podiatrist and maybe a back doctor. I will use the VA probably. I just got to get my PCP to refer me.

I have been taking Ambien for a few weeks. That stuff is starting to depress me. I noticed that I sleep but don't feel rested. I think that stuff interrupts REM sleep. I feel really cranky. My poor wife is catching it. I am going to stop and just stay awake all night. All that sleeping med is really bad news as are tranquilizers. Addictive and they mess with your mind.

Just love the VA (insert sarcasm here) and docs in general who don't pay attention. I'm on 12 different meds currently. I went to a web-site I use to check interactions and found the following...I'm pretty sure this is why I have been feeling like crapola for so long. Warning....this is a long post, but I encourage everyone to check their meds!!! Just put "drug drug interaction" in Google and several sites will come up. Here's mine:
Interactions between your selected drugs
traZODONE and Maxalt-MLT (rizatriptan) (Major Drug-Drug) MONITOR CLOSELY: Concomitant use of agents with serotonergic activity such as serotonin reuptake inhi…

Hi All, I'm not sure if this is posted in the right place, but I have a question about seeing a therapist at the VA for mental health treatment. I called the VA mental health clinic where I live, for a therapist, and they want me to see their psychiatrist/prescriber person also. Can I choose to keep my own psychiatrist for my medications, and still see a VA therapist? The reason is I like my Nurse Practitioner, and I have Anxiety, ADHD, and depression. I just found out about ADHD. So I started taking atomoxetine and we have been increasing the dosage as I went off effexor. I really don't want to see a different doctor while we are in the middle of …
