Does anyone take Maxide for Hypertension. I had an appointment with my 3rd Primary Care Doctor (been changed 3 times in 1 year) and the first thing she wants to do is change my hypertension medication from Acupril to Maxide. She transferred from the Woman's Clinic at the VA Copper Clinic.....she MAY be a Gynycologist? I do NOT trust her and was wondering if anyone takes Maxide and have any good or bad advice on it. I know it's a lot CHEAPER than what I have been taking for years.

Lantus Insulin Pen

Does anyone get the Lantus SolarStar Insulin Pen from the VA. The VA Docs and the VA Specialist (Endocrinologist) will not prescribe (too expensive for the VA) although it is in the formulary as a special request drug. I do not understand why they will not write a scrip for it. I currently get it from a civilian Doctor but pay for it out of pocket.

What is wrong with VA Pharmacies and Pain Doctors? Ok, before I start let me tell you that my head is not on straight. Over the last week I have had to call the pharmacy and my doctor to try to get my pain meds. Several times a year even though I see my doctor three to four times a year my prescriptions runs out or my prescription is changed to where I am completely out of medication. I do not understand this since I call way in advance to get my refill but something goes wrong. Then the pharmacy tells me that my doctor forgot to do something and when I call my doctors nurse she tells me that the pharmacy is missing the doctors response and in the mean time I run out o…

Have a question about the ever-loved annual PAP test. Yup guys....if you are reading, I warned you! Had mine about 3 weeks ago. Got a call today from the women's clinic saying that it was "abnormal". All she (the receptionist) told me was "don't worry, it's not cancer". I've never, ever had an abnormal PAP....I'm 44. The lady said the doc wants to repeat it in 3 months. 3 months??? Really? There is no Gyn-doc at the Dayon VA (something else I've been fighting for, for several years). Not even sure what specialty this doc is...they just grabbed a female doc to work the women's clinic. Anyway....family history: sister had uterine cancer, neice with pre-cancerous …

Yesterday when I woke up my right elbow was stiff and hurt a little when I moved it. Today it aches and if I move it it hurts like hell. It is on right outside of elbow and when it is not hurting it is aching. I would say its tennis elbow but I don't play tennis and I am not sure how tennis elbow feels. I called my backup Doc and he made an appointment at 1 PM. If I went to VA I would still be waiting to be seen. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them and any suggestions? I could not even put my shirt on by myself this morning. Mrs Pete got a free peak :D

I am up this morning cause I am burning all over. I took 1000 mg niacin pill that I am supposed to take every night before I go to bed to help raise my good cholesterol. I wish that there is something more that I could do to get it to go up. I have read that drinking a couple of glasses of red wine would improve it? Exercise is not an option for me at this particular time.

After my Heart attack a Stent was put in to help a 100% blockage. I went to the VA afterwards to discuss all this with my Healthcare team. We went over the new Meds I will need and all went well except for the blood thinner that I was told I MUST continue to keep the platelets from sticking to the Stent. My VA doc says he does not prescribe that med. It costs like $340.00 a month and I have to have it. Now what do I do? Can I ask for a review or something?

I just went to my first VA medical visit today. My doc put all my scripts in. I'm on two differen't blood pressure meds, and she said I would probably recieve those in about a week. I'm also on two different pain meds, hydrocodone 7.5/500 and oxycodone CR 20mg. She didn't say anything about the pain meds, she made it sound like I'd be picking them up today, lol, but there wasn't a pharmacy there. I made it clear that I needed a refill a.s.a.p. due to not having any. I've been looking around on here, and seems to me that when it comes to controlled substances, it's delivered by fedex overnight. Is that the case, or am I making false observations. I'm new to all this, an…

I am so upset right now that I feel sick. I just called the Vet Center here in Indy to speak to the social worker there that I used to see because I wanted to start coming in to see her again because I can't afford to pay for therapy on my own anymore and she told me that she had been advised not to speak to me or anyone about me. I asked her who advised her of this and she said she couldn't say. Can the Vet center refuse to treat me because I am involved in a Federal tort claim for medical malpractice. It's not like I want to go talk to her now, knowing that my health isn't the Vet Center's priority, but I would like to find out if they can refuse me treatment?

A friend sent this to me and it is rather shocking. I'm not an alarmist, but I would read this before getting the vaccine, I'm having serious doubts about getting the shot. t&b Please read this or at least skim it all to the bottom and forward it widely. Help protect your friends and families from being damaged from this. Every person you send it to could be one life you save from a lifetime of pain and suffering. Also, please don't take my word for any of this but do your own research starting with the links to articles and video interviews from Doctors provided at the bottom of this email. The Doctors in the articles and videos are screaming from rooft…

Stiff waiting on the slow claims process, but now for the past year, I have increasingly found myself not wanting to leave my house, I mamage to go out to check my mail, but I am down to one or two times a week, and only when I'm down to my last bbit of food. I've managed to combined my visits to the VA Hosptial and shopping, but this past week I missed a much needed visit to my psychiatrist. I don't seem to get all panicey, but I can't bring myself to go outside sometimes, some days are just more difficult than others. I can't even discribed the feeling I have when I manage to go outside, even when it's just to the mailbox. Anyway, how do those who have Agoraphob…

The Board of Veterans' Appeals, denial, Conclusion of Law, states, "The appellant is obligated to pay VA copayment for each 30-day or less supply of medication provided by VA on an outpatient basis. 38 U.S.C.A. Sec. 1722a; 38 C.F.R. Sec. 17.110 (2006)." Finally, after the Criteria and Analysis, and references to other law statutes, the Board, in concluding states, “38 USCA 1722a clearly pertains to VA’s cost in dispensing the medication, not the cost to the appellant... The Federal register of July 16th, 2001; Also under U.S.C. 1722A, VA may not require a veteran to pay an amount in excess of the actual cost of medication and pharmacy administrative costs related to t…
