Okay, I sit here and still wonder what the real facts are, not opinions. The reason I am asking about this is because I am confused. I had a colonoscopy last year at Miami VAMC and was never notified by letter or phone about the possibility of contracting hep c, b or hiv. I have had discussions with a lot of people and they are telling me, you were only notified if you had a colonoscopy with the specific unsterile equipment within certain groups. At least this is what is being spread around the veteran community at the VAMC. I learned about the unsterile equipment through hadit on VA.org. I went for the lab workup and recieved the negative results two days later, after th…

I have been on Omeprazole for a long time. I have had a dry cough for about 18 months. Chest films are clear and Ear, Nose & Throat Doctor states no problems. Has anyone else had this problem with this drug? It works really well for my heartburn and I wouldn't know what kind of drug to request to replace it?

I had an appt today (a follow-up after some tests) at the cardio clinic at the Dayton VAMC. The first cardio doc I saw there was well.....an idiot. He had actually told me that "women's chest pain is only caused by stress". OMG. And it went downhill from there. But today I saw a real cardio doc....a civilian one who was doing his time at the Dayton VAMC...he was from one of our local hospitals. He actually took the time to listen to all of my symptoms...and my history...and didn't just dismiss me. He was not happy that my cholestrol levels haven't been checked in over a year and are boarderline....also my thyroid levels haven't been checked in over 2 years (and m…

Is anyone familiar at all with this drug LYRICA CV, can have possible nasty side effects. Also stopped Glyburide/Metformin as my kidneys are damaged from it, started me on Glipizide Also started me on Travoprost eye drops for Glaucoma, this also causes vertigo and other nasty little things. Thank the Lord that the Chemo is over for now anyway. Hmmmmmm, think I will soon open my own drug store, I am taking so many I feel my body is a drug store. May 1, I go to the James Haley Pain Clinic, wonder what they are going to add, any suggestions (John999) Oh well at least I am still alive and kicking now.

At the Dayton VAMC they claim to have scripts ready in 30 minutes or less.....LMAO....the other day I waited close to an hour and had to leave to pick up my son from school...today it was close to an hour. Wondering how everyone else's VAMC is doing at filling scripts? Bummer...I made this as a poll, but it didn't work...

I went in for a simple nerve block procedure and ended up on a stretcher with a whole bunch of docs working on me. It seems that during the procedure they put 2 spinal needles into my neck as were injecting some numbing meds and steroids. Yhe needles were not too painful. The first injection hurt like hell. The second one flat did me in. My heart rate dropped below 40 and I was sick to my stomach and broke out into a cold sweat. I had no Idea where I was at or what had happened. They kept me on a stretcher for a long time. Atropine will bring the heart rate up but it will make you drink for the next 2 days. J

With the recent news of the unsanitary conditions at various VAMCs across the country when it comes to invasive testing I have a thought. If I'm schedule for ANY type of invasive test, surgery or anything I don't feel comfortable with the VA doing in the future, I'm going to demand (not ask, demand) that it be done fee-based. And I'll have all of the articles of the recent events in hand. I'm not willing to take the risk of the VAMC being stupid. Are you?

Denial Of Dental Care And Record Tampering

I have cancer and was receiving radiation treatment via the VA @ Memphis, TN. During the 8 weeks of treatment my immune system faultered and my mouth exploded into a infected mess. I attempted to have radiation and oncology to get me a consult with dental. they denied me that option and tols me to see my PCP. She wrote for a consult with dental on 06/05/08 with compelling reasons and stating that the treatment was reasonable due to the treatment I was receiving. On 06/13/08 A remark was made within my medical records by the dental department. The reason being I was not 100%SC. I never offered that reason for treatment. This is disability discrimination. My reason to be …
