Have a question about the ever-loved annual PAP test. Yup guys....if you are reading, I warned you! Had mine about 3 weeks ago. Got a call today from the women's clinic saying that it was "abnormal". All she (the receptionist) told me was "don't worry, it's not cancer". I've never, ever had an abnormal PAP....I'm 44. The lady said the doc wants to repeat it in 3 months. 3 months??? Really? There is no Gyn-doc at the Dayon VA (something else I've been fighting for, for several years). Not even sure what specialty this doc is...they just grabbed a female doc to work the women's clinic. Anyway....family history: sister had uterine cancer, neice with pre-cancerous …

Thursday I had an appointment at Dallas VA for Dental Checkup. When I checked out the clerk was not to busy so I asked him about treatment for non Dental Qualified Veterans. He told me that if a Veteran had a bad tooth that needed pulling that the Dallas VA would do it for 100 dollars for xray and 200 bucks for pulling. He also told me that was a good deal and a lot of Veterans used this service. This is in response to earlier threads where the issue was brought up.

Found this article in today's news as I know that Seroquel has been in the news lately and perhaps some of you might take it. I know that I used to, or at least the VA tried to make me take it until it made me very sick (I have a cardiac history; yet they gave me Seroquel!!); they still don't understand why I won't take it.....duh. ************************************************* Seroquel's Side Effects Too Much For Depression

Worrisome Side Effects May Limit Schizophrenia Drug's Use
MATTHEW PERRONE, AP Business WriterPosted: 2:52 pm EDT April 8, 2009Updated: 9:28 am …

I had shoulder surgery a while back. The doctor used a pain pump inserted in my shoulder to manage post surgical pain. My shoulder still hurts years later and I found out that there is a condition caused by the use of pain pumps in shoulder surgery. I hired a law firm to look into it. I wonder if anyone else has had pain after shoulder surgery caused by use of pain pumps. The condition is rare and only pain pumps cause it. It is called PAGCL syndrom. I have not had the diagnosis confirmed because it can't be fixed except by shoulder replacement....yuck! I have some but not all the symptoms. I guess I have to go back to my shoulder doctor (not the one who did the surger…

To all that take drug's that have a side effect of dry mouth: My dentist tells me over time this can have quite an effect on your teeth. She has convinced me to start using a over the counter product called "biotene mouthwash". It's thicker than regular mouthwashes and gargles and I feel it is helpful to me. I was always getting up in the morning, with my tongue feeling like sandpaper and even all the way down my throat felt so dry, like everything was just so stuck together and felt like I couldn't even get air down my throat. I started out with a .99 cent travel bottle I bought at Walgreen's and now buy a bigger size. If you might want to t…

Here is a letter I have sent to Larry Scott concerning my colonoscopy at Miami VAMC. T&B Mr. Scott, I am contacting you in reference to colonoscopy incidences. I live in Miami and use the Miami VA hospital for most of my medical needs and have not had any real negative issues as a patient there. But, I am concerned about this, because I had a colonoscopy there last year. Today I had an appointment for my PTSD group, so I figured I would inquire as to why I never received a letter from them informing me of this problem. They had turned my PCP/blue team unit into a big lab for vets wanting to get there blood drawn for this incident. The lab technician…

It's been quite sometime since I've seen a Neurologist at the VAMC. To tell you the truth I got burnt out on their attitudes & I'm sure they were burnt out on mine. I’m getting into more problems with MS symptoms that I don't like. I’ve been waking up feeling like I’m drowning & choking due to my throat going into spasm. I'm wondering if I should try to get my PCP to provide a referral. I was in to see him just the other day. He asked if I had anything else to take care of while in Spokane besides updated spinal x-rays. Does anyone think this would be just another waste of time? I can almost hear the answer. "That's the way it is" and leave it at that sinc…

This last week I finally got to see a new mental health care provider. In adittion to all the other meds I'm on, she put me on this new med mirtazapine for sleep & pain, etc. She told me I might feel hung over the next morning. And boy, she was NOT lying. Talk about a buzz on!!!! I would not recommend drinking while taking this med! Anyone else on it????? Liz

i was at the Pain Clinic on Monday and the Doc suggested that they put me on Tramadol and Gabapentin. I have read a lot of the posts on the Gabapentin is anyone out there taking Tramadol. Right now I am taking Vicoden and I have been on it for years and it is no longer working I have built a large tolerance to it. I am just worried that Tramadol might be too strong. They wanted to put me on methadon or morphine i asked if they had anything else that is when they suggested Tramadol. Does it work well I have a bad back with bulging disks and Spinal Stenosis, and bad nerve pain in my left leg I am just worried it might not work.

Yesterday I had a spinal injection for the first time. I sat there waiting talking to the others that where ahead of me waiting to go in. They all told me they work pretty good it just depends on the person how long they last. I sat there waiting and saw that it only took about 15 min for each of them to come out of the room. They explaind to me what they where going to do and how it worked. I went back to the room to have the procedure done not feeling to bad about it. I was wrong. I was in there over and hour they had 2 docters there working on me, I think the one working on me was a medical student. I was x-rayed so much I am supprised I don't glow in the dark. Overall…

Oh yes, the infamous Dayton VAMC has struck again. This time with cardiology testing. Some of you may recall that back in mid February, I had a stress test and 24-hr Holter monitor done. Well, my follow-up is for the 15th of this month. When I looked at the copies of my records last week, I noticed there was no entry for the results of the Holter moniter test. A little red flag went up in my head. It should have been a big red flag. Got a call today from the morons at the Cardiology dept. Guess what. They "forgot" to download the data from my Holter monitor. Oh yes. So I had to go in and have another one put on. Oh....it gets better. I tell the lady on the ph…
