Here is a small paragraph from a VA.org article on colonoscopy procedures at VA hospitals. The problems came to light Monday, when the Miami VA notified about 3,260 patients who received colonoscopies between May 2004 and March 12 of this year that they may have been exposed to hepatitis B, hepatitis C or HIV. This is not true, I had a colonoscopy last year and was never notified or warned or anything. I'm pissed about this and worried. I've had plenty of labs done since then, so I am assuming that I am okay. I am wondering if I should run this up the chain of command and make some noise. It seems odd that I was not notified. Are they hiding something? I'm afraid …

Anyone who has risk factors for heart disease should go to a morror and check their ear lobes. If there is a crease running vertical in lobe then the risk of a Heart attack is much greater than a person without,Creases on both lobes increases the risk. A Nurse in the Cardiac cath lab could tell which patients had advanced heart disease by this and she was right 95 percent of the time. J

A couple months ago I had an MRI done. It said on the bottom of the results that I was going to be scheduled an appointment with a Neurologist a couple days ago I called the Neurologist department at the VA hospital here asking when that would be since I never herd from them, and never even got a letter with an appointment date. I was told over the phone that the docters looked at my results and recomended that I get nerve block injections. I have been refered to the cronic pain clinic where they are supposed to discuss the recomendation for the injections with me. I have mentioned it to docters in the past before and they all told me that I am to young for them I am 26,…

Hello I like a lot of other vets suffer from chornic pain. I am at the point to go live overseas in like Phillippines or some other warm place where a person can go to a Doctor and get meds. I have a Doc which I belive is a good man but it seems like all of them are afraid to treat some of us with SC pain issues. I have SC knees hips and lower back disc disease along with nueropathy in my left leg and feet. I was just wondering how many of the Vets here have ever left the US and lived over in a warm climate and if it helped them. I live in South but this winter I may become a snowbird and go down further south or overseas if things do not pick up. I hate to rant or whine …

Here we go again. The Dayton VAMC wants me to attend the 7-week in-patient MST PTSD program at the Tampa VAMC. 7 weeks in Tampa?? LMFAO. I keep telling them I'm a single parent with a son still in school. I just can't (and won't) up and leave my school-age kid for 7 weeks. So guess what....the VA sees this as unwillingness on my part. I've been on the Dayton VA for years and years and years to get a day program. But no. It seems to be this 7-week in-patient program or bust. It's obvious these lengthy in-patient programs were designed for men. No offense guys...but it's easier for you to pick up and take off because if you still have minor children at home…

The VAMC re-filled my Hypertension medicine with a different brand last Nov. This brand was made by a company which was not FDA approved (according to an e-mail I got from the FDA). I did not know anything at the time exept that my blood pressure went from being under total control for years to a sudden 160-170 over 110-120 for about a week. I began having headaches and called the VAMC who told me not to come there (I am s/c for Hypertension) I was told to go to a local ER, where I sat for 5 hours only to be told by a little barely English speaking lady DR that she did NOT now how to bring my blood-pressure down, so I left there as I came in with very high blood-pressure.…

I bought this belt to strengthen my stomach and back muscles. This unit has many programs in it. It is extremely powerful at the upper settings. The belt, with back unit, cost total $250.00 on the INTERNET. It seems strange that the pain in my back has been lessened. I was just going for making my back and stomach muscles stronger so that I wouldn't fall over so much. I have L-4 to L-5 and L-5 to S1 injury that has always been painful in many ways. This injury has caused me to have weight in my stomach due to being unable to exercise that area at all. I was given a tens unit several years ago, but the tens unit is weak compared to this Contour Unit. The fro…

Here's more proof that the VA's self-proclaimed wonderful, computerized system.....uh.....sucks. I received a phone call (person left a msg) from the Cleveland VAMC that my prosthetics appt had been scheduled for March 13th at 2pm. Say what?? Last time I checked, I had all of my body parts. So I called the number and sure enough....not my appt. It was for a male vet (I'm female) with just the same last name. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've gotten appt calls for this vet. Gee.....I wonder if he gets my Gyn appt calls?? Stupid VA.

I got nerve blocks in my lower back today from a private pain doctor. It is quit painful now, and I had to take a number of pain killers. I am hoping this will help. I am going to start a new PT program for my back. I am just willing to try almost anything short of surgery.

Howdy to all my friends, its been a while. Last week I had my SSA ALJ Hearing and won finally its done. Anyways All you Michiganders out there know that we voted in medical marijuana back in November and it went into effect in December and in January I became a legal state wide patient, as before I was only legal in Ann Arbor, you know down the street from the VA Hospital. Anyways there is a association www.michiganmedicalmarijuan.org it is a patient support group and non profit. I am happy to say I am a member. Anyways we are trying to get local area clubs started so we can educate patients, doctors, police etc. Our meetings and association are open to the public…
