Greetings and Merry Christmas I have a problem with numbness in my left arm, right lower leg and right foot. This numbness sensation was hit and miss but seem be to be happening more regularly here lately. My foot gets completely numb then it goes away after a while...weird feeling. I mentioned this problem in my reopen claim for an increase for lower back and neck pain. An increase would be great but I'm more concern about this numbness problem. I'm going to schedule an appointment with the doc next week. Current Medical Conditions: Hypertension, Nasal Congestion, Asthmatic Bronchitis, Sinusitis, Left Ventricular Hypertrophy, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Hepati…

Friday at 1 PM I had a root canal at Dallas VA. I took antibiotics an hour before the procedure. When we were wrapping up I asked if I would need anything for pain Doc said no but I could take ibuprofen if it hurt. Well at 3 AM Saturday it started to be uncomfortable and by today I am absolutely miserable. Even after digging up a codine that Mrs Pete had extra I am still hurting pretty bad. This does not seem right there should not be that much pain. Of course what can I do but wait and see what it is like tomorrow. Anyone have any thoughts on root canals? I would be obliged. PS I am like a lot of old guys in that I usually can suffer quite a bit before I will ev…

From The American Legion magazine, March 2007: "VA has little consistency across the nation in its provisone of emergency care. Different types of emergency care are offered under different names, including life support, urgent care, emergency services, and acute evaluation units. Among the 156 VA medical centers nationwide, only about half have traditional 24-hour emergency rooms. In a recent report, VA acknowledged that "such aariation leads to ambiguity and may be confusing to veterans seeking care, expecially when in unfamiliar facilities." VA also lacks a precise count of its fully functioning ERs, and officials say they cannot accurately identify how many have be…

I went in for my second sleep study on Tuesday night. I guess I am one of the lucky ones and was able to adapt to the CPAP extremely well. Instead of my usual 5 - 6 times to the restroom, I only had one, and had a very good nights sleep. I kept waiting to crash yesterday, but I never did. I was awake and alert the whole day. I talked to my VA clinic yesterday. i actually had one appointment moved to next Wednesday. The nurse told me to bring in copioes of the sleep study and the scrip and they would fax it in for review for me to get a CPAP. I used a private pulmonologist. That sped up the process of the sleep study.

I have written about this before but I'm not sure how I titled it. I have had a perirectal abscess since July, 2006 and have been to civilian and VA doctors about it. Both agree that I need surgery because it is still draining. Problem? The VA in Dayton, Ohio is so crowded that it took almost two months for them to schedule a pre op appointment for me. Sincer I was originally misdiagnosed at the VA I backed out and am trying to work on a home cure. I was treated by a civilian doctor who could do the procedure in a lot quicker and more professional manner. Question? Does anyone know the procedures that I need to go through to have the VA pay for for civilian care?

Patients' psychological status influence quality of life, and may also have a "significant impact" on their physical status, including cardiovascular health, Dr. Jesse C. Stewart, from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, told Reuters Health. Stewart and colleagues evaluated the contribution of depression, anxiety, and anger to atherosclerosis among 324 men and wo…
