If your service-connected disability limits your ability to perform activities of daily living (like bathing, dressing, accessing the community, and interacting with others) and you can’t return to work right away, you may qualify for independent living services through the Independent Living track.

How do you appeal a Program for Comprehensive Assistance to Family Caregivers (PCAFC) denial? If you have a higher level of care consult, is it possible to appeal? My Nurse told me I am being shifted to Directed Care. Apparently there is a new program that allows you to hire your own caregivers. But it requires you to get an unpaid representative to do a lot of paperwork. And you have to hire your own nurse for part-time work. There are a lot of problems getting care if you do not have a live in family member. Independent Living Plan (12 months)
Hello, I have been working with an independent living counselor through the VA. A lot of what they are offering seems very basic and I am not impressed. My counselor has only had one brief phone conversation with me, and even though she was kind, I have only gotten two emails since. It is pretty obvious I am just a number. My issue is that it is really hard to find information on this program and the only other place where people listed what they got is old and outdated. I dont want anything crazy like a greenhouse, a knife making set of machines, or a boat. I dont think they are focusing on me doing a project or getting involved with the community, which is fin…

Knowledgeable people who don’t have time to read all posts may skip yours if your need isn’t clear in the title. I don’t read all posts every login and will gravitate towards those I have more info on. Use paragraphs instead of one massive, rambling introduction or story.
Again – Make it easy for others to help. If your question is buried in a monster paragraph, there are fewer who will investigate to dig it out.
How To Post
Post a clear title like
‘Need help preparing PTSD claim’ or “VA med center won’t schedule my surgery” instead of ‘I have a question."
This gives members a starting point to ask clarifying questions like “Can you post the Reasons for Denial of your claim?”
