C&p Exam
Well gotta leave about 3:30 in the morning for an 8 AM C&P. Same three disabilities that have been on appeal for three years. This will be the third C&P of those same three disabilities. The last two mirrored and fully supported my civilian neurologist and ortho doc findings. Guess they are simply going to make me go through all 52 VA docs in the deck!!!!! :) Speak at you guys tommorow night.

This And That
This and That If you have not seen the Blue Water Navy Posting at: http://bluewaternavy.org/brownpaper.htm Please do so. This is a must read for all Veterans but especially for Vietnam Veterans. Just some of that below: …Veterans Affairs erroneously notes that the National Academy of Science (NAS) has been successful in the process of "incorporating science into difficult and contentious veteran compensation policy decisions.” I believe it has been clearly pointed out how very far from truth this statement is. (See Part I and Part II ). In fact, it is Brown himself that states there is no scientific basis for the very importan…

I Am Wandering If I Should Close My Appeal
Any advice on if I should close my appeal? They said it will be 2 years for any type of answer. I have an appeal in for IU. I was thinking of just paying for an IME and open a new claim for IU and canceling my appeal especially since the claims process is only about 8 months compared to 2 years. I was told an IME can weight a lot of VA decision, I already forwarded the VA my SSDI decision of approval. Any thoughts or advice much appreciated.

Antidepressant Studies Unpublished
January 17, 2008 http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/17/health/1...&ei=5087%0A Antidepressant Studies Unpublished By BENEDICT CAREY The makers of antidepressants like Prozac and Paxil never published the results of about a third of the drug trials that they conducted to win government approval, misleading doctors and consumers about the drugs’ true effectiveness, a new analysis has found. In published trials, about 60 percent of people taking the drugs report significant relief from depression, compared with roughly 40 percent of those on placebo pills. But when the less positive, unpublished trials are included, the advantage shrinks: the drugs outperform placebos…

Help Please
I had spoken to all of my doctors at the VA, PC, mental health, Gyn and asked them to write a request for me to be seen by outside physicians due to my experience at this VA and they all agreed that it would be good for me to receive my care outside of that VA hospital. I was told previously that the PC portion had been approved. This morning at 0745 I got a phone call from Jenny Gatchel the manager of fee services and she informed me that the chief of staff Dr. Conti denied the requests, but gave no reason. I can write a letter to appeal the decision. If requests from my treating physicians aren't enough what is it that I can say in a letter that will change this do…

Va Gets $3.7 Billion To Hire More Caseworkers
VA gets $3.7 billion to hire more caseworkers By Kelly Kennedy - Staff writer Posted : Thursday Jan 17, 2008 18:01:29 ESTPresident Bush signed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2008 today, handing over an extra $3.7 billion to the Department of Veterans Affairs.Bush had to sign the act by Jan. 18, or VA would have lost the promised extra funding, which will be used to hire and train people to process the backlog of more than 600,000 benefits claims, said Dave Autry, spokesman for Disabled American Veterans. Some of the money also will go toward medical research for conditions such as traumatic brain injuries. DAV and nine other veterans service organizations b…

Hey Indiana Vets
Hey, I know you are in the Indy area and I would like to find out if I might be able to count on you to help me with a problem I have been having? It looks as though I am going to put some pressure on the Indy VA to get them to do the right thing and an organization that I am working with, OFFE2008.org is helping me, but I'd like to reach out to some local Veterans if possible. What I would be asking is would you be willing to make some phone calls to basically let the VA know that not only is a non-profit grouping watching this, that local Veterans are aware and not okay with how things are being handled? Please PM me. Thank you.

Asked For Increase For Sc Nasal Fracture
I've submited a new claim for increase, for my SC Nasal Fracture (0 %) which is causing me breathing problems and I constantly have to use a corticosteroid nasal spray solution to help keep the airways open and clear. The dosage is at its highest recommended level for its use. Their are some complex issues I wish addressed. One is the fact that if I do not use the nasal spray, I can not use a nasal canula, to treat another condition that is not SC with oxygen. What are the chances of getting the NSC condition, which is Mild Obstructive Sleep Apnes, Nocturnal Hypoxia. the Sleep Apnea is not severe enough by itself for the use of a C-Pap machine, but I still nee…
