Veteran Support In A Perfect World
Hello to everyone in the forums!! I am a new member to the forums and I'm a recently separated US Army veteran injured in Iraq in 01OCT2003. I have a few questions for all here: What would you consider ideal veteran care? What services, currently offered or absent, would you wish the VA or other veteran association either improve or start implementing? How can veterans be better assisted when transitioning from a military to civilian environment. I ask these general questions because they were recently posed to me by two US Gov't representatives when I was discussing the extreme difficulty I encountered while unsuccessfully integrating into the VA system. I t…

ptsd This Just In...
Hey all, I know alot of you have been following my claims for the last 2+years that I have been a member of Hadit. Some background on my claim; I filed for PTSD 3 years ago. I was denied repeatedly 8 times over and over again until finally the VA gave me a C&P. I was approved for 30 percent. I also in this same period was awarded social security or SSD. The lowball rating was unacceptable to me from the VA, so I kept fighting. I let my veteran service officer go, and hired an actual attorney before the new law on attorneys took effect. This lawyer did more for my claim in one week than I or the service officers could do in 2+ years time. I asked for a hearing and then…

Which Service Organization?
I just got back in touch with an old Navy buddy who is still having trouble with a shoulder injury he sustained while in service back in 1984. He had no idea that he might have VA benefits available. The DAV did a good job helping me, has anyone had success with VFW or other organizations? Is there one in particular that is considered the best? ptsd The Fight Is On!
I need help very badly, I am a Iraqi Freedom veteran from 03-04 who served in Baghdad as an MP in some of the toughest conditions in the war. I have fellow soldiers that were in combat situations with me that have gotten compensation so why not me? I will give some reasons why they denied my PTSD claim in hopes of everyone's knowledge of how to attack my NOD which I definitely plan on filing immediately!! 1. They said they never received records from my private shrink but yet they mention in the body of denial about medical evidence they have obta…

ptsd The Fight Is On!
I just received word that all three of my claims were denied for various reasons given. I was what I thought was a combat veteran in Baghdad in 03 to 04, but according to the VA none of that matters. I had a claim for PTSD, tinitus, and back pain all of which were denied. I am in complete shock. On the PTSD claim they stated that several factors led to there decision, all of which I hope someone reading this can help me on. 1. They said that because I was treated for depression in my life prior to my depolyment, they can't say that a stressor occured in Combat 2. They say that they have never received any records from a private shrink that I have been going to since…

Below are web-sites found that provide information on Veterans benefits and how to file/ask for them. Accordingly, there are many sites that explain how to obtain books, military/medical records, information and how to appeal a denied claim with the VA. Please pass this information on to every Veteran you know. Nearly 100% of this information is free and available for all veterans, the only catch is: you have to ask for it, because they won't tell you about a specific benefit unless you ask for it. You need to know what questions to ask so the right doors open for you -- and then be ready to have an advocate who is willing to work with and for you, stay in the process, an…
