hypertension It's A Great Day !
Morning all... I just got off the phone with my DAV Rep who called to tell me my claim had been decided!!!! I had applied for an increase for Adjustment Disorder W/Depressed Mood, Hypertension, Arthritis, and IU, in addition to the 50% rating I already have. He said my Adjustment Disorder was rated at 70%, Hypertension Denied, Arthritis Denied, and IU GRANTED. He also said I would get Education Benefits for children and the IU would be P&T. I have mixed feelings but at least I can end this fight and TRY to enjoy whats left of my life. I can't say how much of a help this site has been and I have learned so much from so many and i say THANK YOU to all …

hypertension Appeal On A Hypertension As Secondary To Diabetes Claim
I am a Viet Nam combat vet who served in V.N. during the late 60's. I have a 60% combined rating from tinnitus, PTSD, and diabetes type II. In 2006 I submitted a claim for hypertension as secondary to diabetes and was denied. I hope I am not enclosing too much information but am looking for some advice and want to include as much information as possible. REASONS FOR DECISION From the VA (January, 2007) We have denied service connection for hypertension as secondary to the service-connected disability of diabetes mellitus, type 2 with dietary restrictions. Service connection may be granted for a disease or injury which resulted f…

Request For Information From Va Houston Office
Last month I requested copies of all documents used to deny my VA claim in 2002. Today I received a letter from the VA office in Houston, Tx. The letter stated that my application for benefits had been received and action on my claim may be delayed due to the great number of claims that have been filed. All I wanted was the documents used to deny my claim. I don't know if this a response that is used when copies of documents are requested. Has anyone else requested copies of documents and received a similiar response? Maybe I was sent the wrong form letter. Thanks. 68mustang

ptsd One More Step
I guess this means that I am now a bona-fide combat veteran. The VA already has my claim(revised) & NOD (on original decision) in process. Since PTSD is not part of the current claim, although a back injury is,do I need to give/send the VA a copy of the three page document? Do I need to obtain a certified DD215? Since the citations were under "combat conditions", do I need to obtain copies of the actual citations? (have only one so far) (Extract) From: Navy Personell Command Retired Records Section Pers 312D2 9700 Page Bvd. St Louis Mo 63132-5000 Correction to DD Form 214 (on Form DD215) Add: Combat Action Ribbon Navy Unit Commendation Meri…

Need Information
I am working on a project to get some REAL help for my fellow veterans. I tried to post a 9 question survey on Craigslist, but found out that there was no way to do it anonymously. As my intention is NOT to get contacts or email address, I had to find another way - and I did. Could you PLEASE at least look at the survey at the following link and fill it out if you are comfortable with it. http://www.questionpro.com/akira/TakeSurvey?id=754790 or Click Here to take the survey My point for doing it is: I don't think our veterans are getting the help they need (based on conversa…

C&p Exam For Sleep Apnea
I was told that my claim was at the rating board on 2/2/07, on 7/12/07 I was told that a decision was ready to be made but my claim was pull to complete an congressional inquiry and was sent back to rating specialist to be completed, on 9/14/07 I was told that I needed to have a C&P exam for my sleep apnea claim even though my PCP at the VA wrote that my sleep apnea was due to my weight gain and my weight gain was from my service conected left knee fusion, lower lumbar trauma, left foot, left hip pain, and right knee that needs a total replacement, all service connected. What type of exam can they do for sleep apnea? They already did a sleep study and issued me a cp…
