Stafford Loan
Hello, I will preface my post with an apology lest I unintentionally %*#@ anyone off. :) First, I am thankful and grateful for the compensation and benefits the VA has seen fit to award me for my schedular 100% service-connected, T&P diseases of multiple sclerosis and asthma. At this point in my life I would very much like to earn my Masters degree at my B.A. alma mater. I do not learn as well in an online environment, interaction with fellow classmates works best. It appears I fit in no category for VA help with financing my Masters; I have spoken to the Voc Rehab rep and he told me I am not eligible. Independent Living? grab bars are already installed in my tu…

Insomnia
Discharged in 1995 with 50% for lower back and knee problems. I developed Insomnia due to difficulty with pain management issues and getting comfortable when trying to sleep. I first started taking sleeping pills from the VA in 2000 and restarted in 2006. I've grown a dependency on them which has resulted in migraines and serious sleep issues. I would like to get a secondary condition added to my VA claim. I'm looking for any advice from the community members on this issue. Detonator

Retro Date Issue
Hello I have a question regarding retro date of a claim based on a reconsideration of a rating decision. If the reconsideration was filed within one month of the VA decision and the reconsideration was for a higher percentage and the VA outcome was favorable for a higher % would the VA go back to the original claim date or would they only go back to the date the reconsideration was filed for retro pay? Thank You in advance mountain tyme

Claims File Copy Confusion
My congressman's office just called. They told me that I can get a copy of my claims file from the Los Angeles VARO, even tho my claims file is with the AMC in Washington DC. I have heard that the VARO maintains a temporary file, while the working file is with AMC. I am looking for a Notice of Disagreement that may or may not have been filed in April 1973. My SO has supposely requested a copy of any NOD's filed in 1973 from the VARO. Will this notice only be in the AMC file or could it be at VARO, where it may have been originally filed. In May, I requested a complete copy of my claims file from AMC. Should I get a copy of the claims file at the VARO as well…
