Lip Cancer
Thank U for taking the time to read this, OK, I had a wart looking thing on my lip for 2-3 years as I thought it was an ingrown hair. Whoaaaa, Dermatology at the VA cut it of & it's Cancer. So, I have to go see someone outside the VA ( VA paying for it) to see how severe it is & if I remember correctly this person will take an insturment like a Razor & start shaing off layers of skin till the Cancer exists no more. I was under the impression a laser type of instrument was used but guess I'll find out. ha OK.............Here's the question........I know some types of Cancer are covered by the "Agent Orange" act. & yes I touched foot on groun…

Attorney For Vets Test
At Army Times also: http://www.airforcetimes.com/news/2007/08/...alhelp_070823w/ My buddy Ron Abrams (NVLSP) is quoted as to how ludicrous the test is- and this is why my personal lawyer doesn't ewant to take the test-why should he- vet reps dpnt have to: “It makes no practical sense to make it harder for veterans to get a free lawyer,” said Ron Abrams, joint executive director for the National Veterans Legal Services Program. “For me to tell a $300- to $500-an-hour attorney at a big law firm, ‘Thanks for donating your time, but now you got to go over to the VA and take a test,’ is beyond ludicrous."

Whether To Use Dr. Bash For An Imo
I was able to justify a partial VA disability rating for myself by doing all the claim paperwork on my own. However, I filed my original claim a couple months after leaving service (20-year retirement), so it was probably easier to get my foot in the door so to speak, by getting the VA to at least recognize some things were service connected. On the other hand, when my wife got out of the service herself 15 years ago, she did not file for a VA disability and has resisted doing so until lately. She thought filing was unnecessary because she could get low cost medical care from the local military hospital because she was my dependent, plus she didn't want to bother wit…

Gi Bill
I just used Tbird's new Home page and the GI Bill link was to Military.com. I am already member of Mil.com so I didnt use the member form that popped up- but got answer to my question right away-my daughter has GI bill and I wanted to see how much time a vet has to use this benefit. http://www.military.com/veterans-report/gi-bill-facts This is funny-2 years ago my daughter-a new veteran then - called me up because another vet she knew did not understand the VA web site info on the GI Bill. I laughed and said I hope neither of you ever have to deal with a VA disability claim-VA double talk gets even worse at that point than it is their education info at the VA we…

hypertension Standard Medical Principles Helped
Yesterday I posted here somewhere: http://www.va.gov/vetapp05/files2/0509919.txt The claim was based on getting SC for stroke residuals. The veterans had established his CAD and HBP etc were service connected but this claim was for residuals of a stroke that he claimed resulted from the SC conditions. The BVA made this point: "2. Medical literature establishes that diseases for which the veteran has been granted service connection, including hypertension, coronary artery disease with a history of myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure, are major risk factors for stroke (cerebrovascular accident), and the record disclos…

Appeal Versus Reconsideration
Hello, I am fairly new to this forum, and would like to learn more about what a request for reconsideration is versus an appeal. For example, I filed a claim with the VA in January 2007, and just got back a rating decision this month partially approving my claim. When I talked to my VSO, he suggested that I appeal the parts of my claim the VA had denied by preparing a Notice of Disagreement letter. He also recommended that my NOD letter include a request for a De Novo review by a DRO, plus a request a Statement of the Case. Question #1 - Is what I'm doing considered an appeal or a request for reconsideration? Question #2 - Is there a difference between the t…

On The Verge Of Possible Homelessness
Hello Hadit family. I've been monitoring the site for some time and this is my first post. It will be lengthy and I apologize in advance. I need some therapy so I thank you for allowing the post. I was an Infantryman 11B. I am an OIF vet medically separated in Jan 05 for back pain due to scoliosis. Two years before my deployment with the 4th ID, the spring of 02, I was diagnosed at Walter Reed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Depression "other than categorized." Walter Reed was my local medical facility because I was stationed in the Military District of Washington, and was serving in "The Old Guard" executing ceremonies in the Capitol Region and full …

ptsd Ptsd Or Alzheimer's
OK, I have written several times in the last year about different member's of my family i am trying to help. Now it is my husband, He's doing some really out of charater things for him. Usually he is more in control, But lately i am seeing things in him that are starting to worry me. First i'll tell you he is 30% service connected for PTSD. He ususally fuctions pretty well and these things have been coming on over the last 10-12 months and the lid blew off the pot so to speak today. I collect coins as a hobby and in the last 4 months he has brought home a roll of the Washington quarters 4 times. I didn't have the heart to tell him i already have them so i just took th…
