C-file Organization - If You Have Gone To The Va To Look At Your C-file
For those of you have who gone to the VA office and looked at your VA C-file, or for those of you who have been service reps and actually seen a working C-file, how does the VA organize a C-file? When you send in a packet of information that has treatment reports, buddy statements, and medical narratives (or whatever) do they keep the packet together as you sent it in or do they tear it apart and put it in different places in the C-file? Thanks, TS

Lufkin Texas/ Tx Veterans Commission
My husband and I are seriously considering a move across the state line to Lufkin TX/Lake Sam Rayburn area. When the veteran relocates to another state, are they required to relocate their claims to the new state VARO immediately, or can they wait until a decision is made? The reason I ask this is we've been waiting for a decision on a Board remanded appeal from the AMC for over two years, and the appeal is reportedly with the raters there. We don't want to do anything to delay it further. I'm also looking for some general comments from anyone who lives in that area, if you like it, cost of living issues, if the state VSO's know anything about 38 CFR, if the VARO is …

Pete53
Hey Pete53 I sent my mother out to my Brother's Service Officer yesterday to pick up the form for A&A and while there the SO made an appointment today for my brother at the VA. The DR. filled out the report and on the top of the form she put my brother as the Veteran but put my mother as the Claimant. IS She the Claimant and not mt brother? The DR. said NO that my brother is unable to take care of his own personal needs or the act of nature and is unable to leave home alone. [ I guess this is good?? for the A&A right??] It is also noted that the VA is sending out a visiting Nurse for several visits in the next couple weeks because the DR. said my brother isn't…

hypertension Why Imo "is" Being Rejected?
Why IMO "is" being rejected? I had a new PCP assigned recently. According to my records, a pain level of "1" was entered without asking me what level I was experiencing. "No pain" was also entered, and the Dr stated, "sustained action opoid medication no longer needed". He said I would have to get "all" my pain meds from the local Dr from now on & pay for it myself. He commented verbally, that's what happens when you go "outside" the VA for medical opinions & pain medication. He than accused me of trying to double up on two completely different pain prescrptions, in the same month, by going through two different Dr's at the same time. He accuse…

Hey! Pete!
Do you know how the VA determines if a child was dependent on the veteran for 1/2 of their support at the time of their death? The DOD counts 1/2 support if the veteran and the spouse combined were providing over 1/2 support. Social Security either uses the pooled fund method (that takes the total household income combined - and allocates support provided by each parent according to their income.) Or if the couple didn't pool their income - they look at what each person provided seperately. They do not count support provided by the spouse as support provided by the person. I was wondering how the VA does it. Basically, my son recieved SSI, but my husband provi…

Well Skip The Other Post Need Info
;) Well the big brown envelop came today. Service connection for bonchitis granted with no rateing they lumped it in with my sleep apena. Service connection for acuite Sinuitis granted but at 0 percent. The letter for increase rateing for sinuitis will go out tommorow. Anybody got any ideas can they lump the bronchitis in as part of the sleep apena? Took almost 3 years just to get them to say it was service connected for both items. They defered my claim for Asbestoes. BTW was treated agagin for sinuistis on 14 July 07 at VAMC. Thanks in advaance Jim

Imos
I know that if the VA seeks an IMO in regard to a claim, they have to send you a copy of the IMO and give you an opportunity to respond PRIOR to issuing a ruling on the claim. Does anyone know if this is also true for the RO? i.e.If the RO decides to seek a medical opinion in regard to my husband's cancer claim - do they have to send me a copy of that opinion and give me the opportunity to respond (and have a doctor respond) to that opinion before they decided the claim? Or can they just get the opinion, decide the claim, and then I only have the opportunity to address the opinion through the appeal process? Thanks, Free

ptsd Linking Heart Disease To Ptsd
Without an IMO/IME, is it possible to link heart disease to PTSD? I got a letter from Dept. of Veterans Affairs,KY that says: "1. If you have any additional evidence to submit, please submit medical evidence on your current congestive heart failure and severe cardiomyopathy as well as evidence showing a connection between these two conditions and your service connected PTSD condition. We will consider service connection for your congestive heart failure and severe cardiomyopathy as secondary to your service connected PTSD condition." I am currently receiving percentages on: 10% Tinnitus, 20% Cervical Spine, 10% Degenerative Disc Disease and 10% PTSD. (50%…

Clothing Allowance
I submitted for the stupid clothing allowance. Today I got a letter which said that I have to travel to the VAMC for an evaluation. It futher stated that I must bring in clothing that had been destoryed by the device and the original prescription for the device. When I sent in the request it contained a statement from my doctor that since Aug 2005 I had been required to wear a full length hard (fiberglass and metal)AFO in order to ambulate due to damages caused by my service connected stroke. Jeez I don't have any original prescription. On the clothing - The biggest damage is to my socks. However, since it is so bulky I have to split most of my pants inorder f…
