Timeline Question On Various Claims...
Hi All, I was wondering about the timeline for filing various claims. For example my original claim took 3.5 years where I did a NOD and ended up being approved for 90% of my issues. I just die a reconsideration based on new evidence with the RO and was just wondering if it would take the same time or less. I guess that is hard to determine as various VARO are different in their work load, etc. Another thing I thought that was not unique to me is that my initial award came back and I then NOD it and ended up getting approved for most of my issues. Why does it take a VARO review to get the correct determination? They could have avoided paying me retro pay. No…

Rating Question
I filed a claim for a terrible skin rash I had. On my final physical exam from the military (while i still was on active duty) the military doctor stated I had dermatits over 20% of my body, on my chest and arms and legs. I had a VA exam several months later and the VA doctor said I had dermatis over only 1 percent of my body (he didn't even look at the rash, he didn't even ask me to remove my shirt -- that was August 2005). In Jan 2006, the VA service connected me at 0% for dermititus. I filed a DRO appeal as I knew they greatly underestimated my skin disorder. The VA sent me for a C&P exam in May o7 as part of the DRO appeal. The doctor correctly noted, altho…

A Question Of Procedure
I am sure that this has been discussed before but I am not at a location were my notes are and was having some difficulity with the search. I have a SOC, I know I must respond with a Form 9 within 60 days or do a reconsideration based on new and material evidence. So, in my case, Iam doing the recon. After I submitt the recon, can I still submitt additional new evidence or must I wait for them to either grant or give a SSOC. if my memory serves me correct for a change I would say that I can still subnitt new evidence after thrning in the recon. Is this correct? Thanks.

Mental Health C & P
Hello all! I have gotten the report from my mental health C & P. Will this report help me? Thanks, Bill Axis I - dysthmic disorder - rule out pain disorder associated with psychological factors and general medical conditions Axis II - deferred Axis III - shoulder pain Axis IV - stressful job and shoulder pain Axis V - GAF 55 meets the criteria for dysthmic disorder based on the symptoms he endorses and previous medical records. He attribute his depression to chronic pain from his service connected physical problems. In my opinion the chronic pain he has due to service connected physical problem would not be a direct cause of depression. However, the chronic p…

hypertension Hbp And Heart To Agent Orange?
http://vawatchdog.org/07/nf07/nfJUL07/nf072807-1.htm "INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE RELEASES LATEST REPORT ON VETERANS AND AGENT ORANGE -- Says AO exposure may boost hypertension and heart disease, but committee divided on some cancer risks. Read full report" the full report is at Watchdog- have not had time to read it yet- I would think that heart disease will be on the AO list in our lifetime---- although many disabilities might never be associted to AO- that list sure has grown in the past 2 decades- It would be very good news but very costly for VA to have heart disease on the AO list- too many veterans are dying due to heart disease- vets who serv…

Nam Vet
I need some expert advise. I am helping a Nam Vet try and get through this VA maze. He was 2 tours AF from the 355th TAC. The VA granted him 10% on his left knee (Arthritis) denied R- foot, R- knee, R- hip, denied AO exposure skin disease. I met with him today, and went through some of his papers and filed for a extention of time ( 60 ) days to keep the claim tolling. I found a discharge physical......It states "trick knee refers to fluid on left knee, no comp.,no seq. foot trouble, pes planus right foot, wears arch supports and orthopedic shoes, well documented in medical records" I cant beleive he realy had this all these years, but the VA also had this, but st…

Saw The C-file
I went to the Chicago RO yesterday for my appointment to see my husband's C-file. The letter I got said to bring a photo ID. The first thing the lady at the desk asked me was "Did you bring the letter?" No. Was I supposed the bring the letter? I have AN APPOINTMENT. Yes. In order to see the file you HAVE to bring the letter. That's the only way we will know that YOU are the person we said can SEE the file. (with that "how STUPID can you be" tone of voice) I pointed out the letter did not indicate that I had to bring it. I had assumed that the PHOTO ID would "prove" I was the person that was entitled to see the file. I drove 5 HOURS ONE WAY to see the file. …

A Question About Sleep Apnea
Let me run this by y'all, and you tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree. Service Connected badly screwed-up left ankle. It's bad enough that I have a great amount of pain while attempting to walk. The VAMC has me in a orthosis (brace). I just found out today that I suffer from Sleep Apnea. The main reason that I suffer from this Sleep Apnea is that I am overweight. I'm overweight due to the fact that I can barely stand, because of the pain in the leg/ankle, to walk or to bear weight on my left leg. So I don't get any exercise, thereby leading to my overweight situation. Doc says that my Sleep Apnea is connected to my weight which is connected to my SC'd left leg…

I Know That The Varo Looks At Your Records But Do They
Hi All, I was woundering if the local VARO that is handeling your claim actually talks to the VAMC DR or do they just read the notes that the VAMC Dr. puts in the computer? I ask this because my VA Dr wrote a lot about my problems in the system and then he said if they have any questions they can call him. I know that if they call him they will actually get more info to support my claim. It's Kinda weard to me but I have 4 private Dr's give their medical opinions but they only really took the "truth" from the VAMC Dr!! Once I went in the VA system it seemed that my claims were "validated". Also this is a question that is probally hard to answer but my init…

Does The Vamc And The Varo Talk To Each Other?
I am woundering if the VAMC and the RO talk to each other. For example, when I see a Dr at the VAMC can they look at my RO medical files and C & P exams and examination notes that the examiners put in the system? Thanks

tdiu Received My Award Letter Today
Well today I received my award letter for TDIU in the mail and my retro in the bank. Eight days from the day it was date stamped approved to the day it arrived at my mailbox. It took 10 months all together for the TDIU and 2ndary conditions claim that were filed and finally, I was awarded TDIU, but they seemed to have forgotten or left out the rest of the claim we filed, like the rest of the secondary conditions. They don't even show them as being deferred or even mention them at all in the award letter. What do you make of that? They were all filed together. My rep is on vacation until next week, so I have to see what she says about it. They left my combined rating…
