Schedule Of Ratings
This might be an obvious question, how do I figure out what diagnostic code was used to rate my condition if nothing specific is mentioned? This decision letter states the following: Service connection for psoriatic arthritis, right hand (claimed as arthritis) is granted with an evaluation of 10 percent effective April 14, 2009. I can not find anything in the VA schedule that lists psoriatic arthritis. I have found psoriasis for which I am also currently service connected but this while related medically is not the diagnosis. When I look up arthritis, it starts with the code 5002 rheumatoid arthritis and continues to list several different types of arthritis c…

Additional Evidence After C&p...
I was told by the C&P Examiner (09/23/09) that he saw symptoms of two additional claims that I could file. The C&P is more than likely back at the RO by this time and I presume in the Rating area or where ever it goes AFTER a C&P. I have submitted an FOIA request for a copy of the C&P notes on 10/01/09. Does it make sense to wait until a decision is in on the initial claim before filing the additional claims?

Need Help Understanding The Note In Schedule Of Ratings
This is from the Rating Decision: The results of the exam show your mandible was normal. X-ray of the maxilla showed evidence of pins used in your reconstructive surgery. Arthritis was not shown. There was incomplete healing of the soft tissue in the right maxillary vestibule and scar tissue was evident. Your ramus and palates were normal. Your temporomandibular articulation showed your Inter-incisal range of motion was between 31 and 40 mm. Your range of right and left excursion was between 0 to 4 mm. The physician diagnosed incomplete healed right maxillary fracture. An evaluation of 10 percent is assigned from October 1, 2007. An evaluation of 10 p…

Va Not Committing To Diagnosis - To Deny Claim ?
i filed a claim and it was denied jan 2009. it was for MS while on active duty. at the time i didn't realize my c-file had zilch in it. i corrected that. all medical tests are in and not surprizingly the MS specialist will not commit to a diagnosis. all mimics have been ruled out. although he does want me to start on MS disease modifying drug injections soon. so, i now realize that the VA will not commit to a diagnosis due to a disability claim thus they can and will continue to deny it. thousands of us vets i now know have & are going through this. i'm in the process of trying to raise funds so i can see a non-VA neuro here in town. the National MS Society put…

Did The Va Contract With Health Insurance Actuaries?
I ve heard this several times, that the VA contracted with a health insurance actuary company to study certain medical issues of veterans and plot the expected life span of a veteran with that medical issue. VA then uses this data to plan their denials and delays. Is there any truth to this? Paul

lumbosacral Thoracic Spine Djd
In Aug. 2009 my claim for my back (thoracic and other conditions) was denied. One of the comments made in the rating decision write-up was "You complained about your back but you had a cold". They ignored the fact I was taken by ambulance (documented in smr) to the emergency room for right side thoracic back pain a couple months before the visit they were referring to. Each time, I complained (approx. 8 x while in service) about my back it was always my right thoracic side of my back and most of the time, I did have a cold. I couldn't help I had a cold. Even at the tender age of 24 I knew how to nurse a cold without going to the emergency room! At the ripe age of 53, …

Gripe With Nurse Practicianers Doing C&p Exams And
Now I know why I am of the opinion that NP do not have the experience or training to give professional medical opinions that even at times, a more qualified MD and/or specialist can get wrong when they don't consider, not only all the patients medical history and problems, or compair what they have found to a differential diagnoses as well. Case in point, the NP is so convinced that my symptoms are so consistant to Allergic Rhinitis and that it is not, in any way related to my SC nasal fracture and deviated septum, that they made no attempt to add that their where other diifferential diagnosis that could and do have the same type of symptoms. Nor do they deem it neces…
